The department of Hilarious horror and Abhorrent adaptations, led by the corpse flower and… some Japanese native flower that also happens to live in America. Dealing with horror fanfiction that isn’t actually scary (expect a lot of creepy pastas) and attempts at adapting, super sentai and Masked rider (auto collect, won’t let me do the Japanese name for it) So, what do you guys think?

Agreeing with Linstar on both counts. by

The first idea definitely sounds like something that could exist, and would actually be original! I can dig it. For a Flower, may I suggest a Tree? The Callery pear (var. Bradford) has abundant, beautiful white flowers, and was planted widely as an ornamental tree by developers in the US, up until the problem became apparent: They stink. Badly. They've also managed to spread and are now being considered an invasive species. Seems appropriately horror-ific to me. {= D
The second idea, not so much. Sanctioned adaptations are outside the PPC's remit, and fanfiction based on sanctioned adaptations is already handled by the panoply of existing departments. I'm not sure "unsactioned adaptations" can even be considered to exist as far as the PPC is concerned; they'd either be treated as a separate continuum like a regular adaptation, or like any other fanwork and judged on quality.

Not sure I would personally go with a Callery pear. by

I just really like the idea of a giant, rot-smelling parasitic flower of a Flower to head a horror department. That one seems a bit... mundane, maybe? I'm pretty sure I've seen the species before in the wild, as it were.

I guess I'm more partial to the brand of horror that takes something mundane or innocent-looking and pulls the rug out from under you (e.g. Weeping Angels); less so to taking something that looks scary and playing it as scary. Generic monsters, jump-scares, and gore generally bore me or come off narmy. ^_^;
~Neshomeh is pretty sure society failed the axe-murderer and doesn't blame the giant snake for acting on its nature.

I'm not much of a horror guy, so chances are I'd never write for this department anyway. I figure that when and if someone writes for this department, they get to choose the Flower.
"Society Failed the Axe-Murderer" would be a great band name or album title.

I could get behind a department that handles awful creepypastas and failed horror fics, and as far as I can tell, that's not a thing right now.. It seems like something that definitely could exist, and like it would have a clear delineation from other departments' tasks. As for its head, were you thinking of a Rafflesia, or, say, an Amorphophallus titanum? Either way, the idea of a Flower that produces an odor like that is a great one and has serious comedy potential. Also, fun fact, "Amorphophallus titanum" means, roughly, "misshapen giant phallus". I imagine any Flower unlucky enough to be stuck with that name would be rather embarrassed by it. I don't know about the proposed department name, though; "Horrible Horror" isn't bad, but I do think something that means the opposite of "horror" might be better. Might I suggest Unfrightening Horror or something similar?
Of course, I would only attempt to add this to canon if I were to have a good idea for agents and badfics to include in it, and crappypastas just aren't really my thing.
As for a Department of Important Adaptations... I would just say that I don't think that's at all necessary. With the exception of the Department of Out of Character Hobbits, we don't really do single-canon Departments, and when there are single-canon Divisions, they're mostly because of how much badfic there is in that particular canon. Departments are usually more for genre than individual canon. I'm also not sure what "adaptations" have to do with this; that's... not the same as badfic, is it? I'm honestly not quite sure what that would entail, or if the adaptations you're referring to would be published continua of their own, which would not be missionable. The proposed name also strikes me as rather pretentious; why exactly are these particular adaptations in these particular continua important?

I’ve also decided to rename horrible horror to hilarious horror, it was a very good suggestion to change it to something in that ballpark

That's got a pretty good ring to it. Better than "unfrightening", I'll say. by

Though, of course, department names are by no means required to alliterate. ^_^
