Not sure how popular this thread will be, since very few boarders are from countries that celebrate lunar calendar days, but I'll just toss it here anyway 🧨🧧🧨🧧🧨

Since this thread already existed, I might as well hijack it for my Lunar New Year art thread. I’m following a Twitter prompt list so there’ll be approximately six days of illustrations depending on how much free time I get this week.

Day 1’s prompt is decorations, so here’s the Department of Analytical Sciences’ Mandy Singh and Lin Wei-Ting making cut paper decorations!

And here is Liu Siyuan decorating the front door of his new house in New Caledonia with Jacques.

I actually came up with a PPC-themed spring couplet (the red stuff surrounding the door): 差事避苏，反话招福. It means “missions ward off Sues, irony attracts fortune”. The theme listed on the banner at the top of the door is 情节防卫, or “plot protection”.

One of the future days is, of course, red envelopes, which traditionally are full of money for kids. However, agents don’t get paid nearly enough to justify giving each other money, so if your agents had to improvise a red envelope, what would they put in it?

(Some examples: leftover Chanukah gelt, Swedish fish, red pens — anything red, gold, representative of wealth or good luck, etc, is fair game)

The answers I like best will be illustrated!

Day 2’s prompt is wrapping dumplings, so here’s Liu Siyuan teaching Jacques how to wrap dumplings. He also technically taught Jenni, too, but Jenni got the hang of it much faster 🤣

Also here are Muriel, Eledhwen, and Christianne. Eledhwen has decided she’s not wrapping, so she’s cooking the dumplings instead. Muriel just wants some of that meat mush filling 😛

A simple look at the Lunar New Year red envelope haul at HQ this year:

From the top down:
- Liu Siyuan is pretty old-school, so he gives leftover Chanukah gelt in a pretty standard red envelope.
- Zing’s DMS archivist Zimra gives out those strawberry candies (the ones frequently spotted in close proximity to grannies) in a festively punny red envelope
- Someone from the Department of Finance is red-green colourblind and also has a cruel sense of humour. FlowerBucks are not legal tender. (I liked the Monopoly money idea, Hidaney, but I reckoned some agents might actually get paid in that, so I had to make something even more useless.)
- Agents Doc and Vania quickly realised that DnD dice are also kinda expensive…
- Zing’s DOI agent Adrian enjoys this terrible pun. It’s based on 年年有余 (may you have plenty each year). The last word, plenty (yǘ), is homophonic with fish (yǘ). Hence, may you have (Swedish) fish each year.

If I had to think of something Agents would stick in envelopes, maybe five dollar Monopoly game bills, which are pink.
