There's some stuff going on with fanfiction.net right now. Here is an explanation. Not sure how accurate it is but either way it's important to start backing up your fics and any you want to keep reading. We should probably make sure to archive some of the classic PPC stuff on there too. I've been using https://fichub.net to download some of my old favourites plus some fics I've been planning to spork. It's pretty simple to use and you can get it in a variety of formats depending on how you want to read it.

Apparently fanfiction.net (not www equivalent) has never lapsed; the reply can be seen here.

Still archive everything! This site sucks and will probably go down!

Just great. I guess this probably goes for Fictionpress, too, if anyone has stuff there. (nm) by

Well, looks like this finally made me start moving IrregularS to AO3. by

For now I have backed up the raw text on a Google Drive doc, though, so that's coming... soon... perhaps. I actually intended to move IrregularS since I backed up all my PPC stuff on it, but never got around to do so.
So the blessing in disguise is that it gave me the wakeup call to actually do so. I'm really, really glad I moved to AO3 for everything now...

Argh. I've just backed up my stuff & you should all do the same. by

In fact, you should try and make sure everything digital that you care about exists in at least two completely independent places. All of my stories are on my hard drive and my Google Drive, so neither PC failure or Google stealing everything can kill them.
Back in 2014, I made a manual backup of all PPC stories on FFn, I think excluding the ones that were already elsewhere. You should be able to access that here. I also archived all the TOS badfics that we could find; and in 2020-21 I made a Grand Archive of all PPC-related stories , which should include anything on FFn too.

"All Souls Night" has been deleted, but there's an archive capture here.
Probably should update the link.

it's also worth noting... by

...that someone made a complete dump of fanfiction.net a few years back (somewhere around 2016?). You can find that here. It's Big though. Very very big.

Which is good but not foolproof. by

Archive.org is just as susceptible to sudden the-Internet-forgets as any other site, and at one point (maybe even still) the Wayback Machine had it so that any site which currently has a no-robots tag in its... metadata or wherever, would not show any of its history. So anything on there could just vanish randomly too.
