I'm going with all of the above - all four candidates are more than deserving of PG status, and I have no doubt that they will excel in their duties. These candidates have proven their care and attention to detail in the community.
The nominations thread has gone silent, and we have three Boarders who have accepted their nominations: Iximaz, Poor Cynic, and Desdendelle. Now comes the time to cast our votes and determine which of them will receive the PG Hat. There can be only one two er, as many as you like, actually. ^^
Every member of the PPC community can vote, even if you've only been here five minutes. You can cast as many votes as you want - as Techno-Dann said last time we did this, we're looking for good PGs, not the single most popular person. After the voting dies down, I'll tally things up and announce the results. (Which, barring one far-ahead-of-the-others candidate, will probably be at least two of them, and potentially all three; I'll be allowing a little leeway between 2nd and 3rd place, in case the vote gets close)

I'd also like to suggest an extra-ordinary appointment of a Permission Giver, not as part of the above voting. As many of you know, Kaitlyn is our longest-standing member. She read the Original Series when it was still on Fanfiction.net, and has been on the Board longer than any of us. She doesn't post very much, and she wouldn't use it if she had it - but I think it's frankly silly that the Oldest PPCer isn't a Permission Giver.
So, in addition to the main vote, if you've got an opinion on this side-issue, please cast a vote as to whether or not Kaitlyn should be made a PG. In this case I'll be going with a simply majority (which, to make this perfectly clear, will have no impact on the main voting - hence, extra-ordinary). Feel free also to not vote on this one, if you simply don't care. ^^

I only have read very few missions, since I have been very busy straightening my life. I cast my vote to Iximaz and Desdenelle. Mainly because I am rather attracted to their comments. Also, Kaitlyn should be PG as well, if just due to seniority.

I was unsure about voting at first, since I rarely post despite constantly lurking, but since Dann said he thought it'd be a good idea for me to throw in my two cents, I'm casting votes for PC and Kaitlyn (I legit thought she was one already, so oh well.)
I guess I'd better vote - I'm definitely in favor of PC and Des, and while I haven't seen a huge amount of Iximaz, they look good too. So I guess that's a vote for all three?
(And yeah, I think Kaitlyn deserves to be a PG at this point. So a vote for all four.)

Actually I think my permission giving abilities should be revoked, because I have apparently diminished and gone into the West, only to return as a whisper on the wind or a shadow out of the corner of your eye, or a nightmare which recedes from your consciousness upon waking, from time to time.
Maybe there should be, like, 'permission giver emeritus' status, and it would be kind of like the queen, everyone thinks she's nice but she can't actually do much.
I mean can you imagine if I went rogue and came back here and just started granting permission to random people? CHAOS.

I like the idea of permission giver emeritus status. Given my absurd inactivity and relatively short period of preceding ...non-inactivity, I doubt I qualify. :P But something like that we could throw at Kaitlyn? After all, though she hasn't made permission calls as such, she is often a major voice of guidance in big community decisions.
Let me tell you something, sonny - back in the autumn of aught 2 when I first came to these shores, we didn't have any of these newfangled permission givers! In those days Jay & Acacia still roamed the land, and a handful of us built this here forum from the ground up with our blood sweat and tears, uphill both ways in ten feet of snow without any shoes! We still had to wait for The Two Towers to hit theatres and George W. Bush was in his first term, we had no iPads, iPhones, or iWhatsits, Livejournal was invite-only - now you young whippersnappers says, "What's Livejournal?!" That's right, imagine a world without Facebook, a world without Tumblr, a world without the 5th-7th Harry Potter books - tremble as you imagine a PPC without Huinesoron, because by gum that was the state of things!
All four of them seem like they'd be good PG's; I vote Iximaz, Poor Cynic, Desdendelle and Kaitlyn all get the promotion.
Kaitlyn. If she is the oldest boarder than she should definitely be a PG.
For Poor Cynic, and Desdendelle. I have all confidence in Iximaz, as they seem awesome, but we haven't interacted much.
Also totally a vote for Kaitlyn if that gets decided. She knows the old canon better than probably any of us. Except maybe hS.
I'll happily support Iximaz, PoorCynic and Desdendelle becoming PGs for all the reasons that have already been discussed far more eloquently than I could hope to.
Echoing July's comment below, I feel that the PG hat should really be given to those who will use it, and that some alternative award should be devised for long-standing members of the community who don't wish to become PGs.
I recall someone suggesting a yearly awards ceremony - I like this idea. Perhaps Kaitlyn could be given a pre-emptive 'Lifetime Achievement' award - "successfully maintained her sanity despite long-term exposure to the crazy world of the PPC"? ^__^

How are things going for you? Any new missions down the pike?
Oh, I've just been lurking. I still check the Board most days, although I have very little to say. It has been a case of other things and general real life stuff, but I might return to mission-writing eventually (after all, I did leave the plot on a bit of an ellipsis). If I do, I might want to try and make things a little less formulaic, maybe longer arcs than just each mission (although there was some interlinking previously) and more non-badfic-oriented stories, like interludes or hypothetical events. I doubt it will be for a while yet, though - I have a whole mire of sorting out still ahead of me. Sorry.
It's nice to see I'm still remembered around here though!
Iximaz, and i think is a good idea to have one of the older members be given the Permision Giver title (with that i refer to the thing about Kaitlyn).

I've known the both of them long enough to know they'll do well with it. PC's beta workshops are a marvel, and, I have to admit, having been a firebrand myself, I'm ever for having an alternate voice around.
While Des might have got off on the wrong step a few times at first, in my opinion that means he'll make a better PG for it, because he knows how people can improve first hand.
(While I can't say much for what my reputation is on the board nowadays since I have no idea what it is now, I do hope the fact I believe they'll do a good job is worth something!)
And as for the secondary item, I'm going to have to not vote for Kaitlyn as a PG; to clarify, this isn't a vote against her by any means; I have immense respect for her, and she clearly has good taste I mean what but I do personally prefer that we vote for PGs who have been and will be active in the community in the future and are willing to do the whole PG thing themselves. If she decides to change that and decides to take part more actively and expresses an interest in actually doing PG activities, then I'd be all for it; but until then, no.

Desdendelle: He's been in the PPC for longer than I, and his missions have been excellent. So it's a yes for him.
Iximaz: She's a good member of the Board. However, I'm still on the fence. So I'll abstain for now. (If I cannot do that, then you can count my response as a no.)
PoorCynic: He betaed for me for a time, so I know personally that he'll be a good PG. A clear yes to him.
On Kaitlyn: I think that giving Kaitlyn a PG hat at this point would be highly irregular--especially since she had not been nominated in the previous thread. And if she would not be around to do the job, then that makes my decision that much clearer. I'd agree on coming up with some kind of honor for still-active non-PG Oldbies, but as for making Kaitlyn a PG: no.
All of the above! I am admittedly not too familiar with Iximaz, but I do recall them(she?) being pretty level-headed for important things, and Poor Cynic and Des are both responsible and sensible folk.

The 'yes' might be higher if some of the 'I vote for everyone' entries (foofooman3, Scapegrace, SkarmorySilver, and Luinril) include her; the 'no' might be higher if Neshomeh meant her lack-of-vote as a 'no'.
So yeah. At this point there is still, quite literally, everything to play for. Let the votes continue...

And it's nothing to do with not trusting Kaitlyn's judgement. I'm a little uncomfortable with sneaking her in outside the usual nomination process, though, and also, if we start handing out honorary PG hats (which is what it amounts to even if you didn't use those words), where do we stop? I mean, I trust AW's judgement, too—he's been seen in living memory—so does he get one? Or Hellga, who I recall participated in some discussions about the Hobbit films? Or Kippur, who showed up quite recently to announce the publication of her book(!); or Nenya, who I've talked to within the last couple of years even if no one else has?
Granted, Nenya's already a PG, but the point is that if she weren't I wouldn't suggest making her one, nor anyone else who isn't really active in the community at this time. Not because I don't respect the hell out of them, cuz I do, but I don't think PG status is the way to show it.

That puts her at 9/9, with four possible Yeses on top of that.
It gives a title, and some recognition by the community, while also sending a message of, "If you want you use this, you have to become active in the community again." I am not opposed to this.
I would say that 6 months should be sufficient. If 6 months is what we want those looking for permission to wait for, 6 should be good for permission givers as well. It is a solid, we know you are serious about staying, number. Besides, 6 months is really not all that long.

... in fact, of the people who've posted on the front page, only 7 haven't voted. And three of those only have one post still on the front page; only one has more than 5.
This has been a really, really good turnout. I'll probably let it run until next Monday, so as not to force people who only have weekend access to miss out, but... thank you/well done, folks. It warms my heart to see PPC democracy in action.

Wait, you helped make that mod? Cool! While I don't play Vietnam at all (I'm more of a Rome man, myself), I do quite like that civ. Any other mods you worked on, or would just recommend? I am always on the hunt for more mods.

This is also why I changed my moniker here - over on CivFanatics, I am Scapegrace, and Scapegrace is someone I can be proud and happy to be. That has never, ever happened to me before. Not even here.
But yeah, I write lines (generally DoM speeches) and I come up with ideas. For Vietnam, I just did the DoM - and by proxy came up with the UA name, The Ascending Dragon. The specific phrase is "you rose with the rage of the dragon, and your people rose with you".

Ah, Australia. You know, I never gave that civ much attention. It seems I should. The video made him seem interesting.
While I have been a fan of the Colonialist Legacies series (the Inuit civ being a favorite of mine, for obvious reasons), I have never heard of those other two civs before. I'll have to give them a look. While Rome will suit me just fine, I like to add other civs to play against. Adds to the fantasy of it all.
I'm glad to see the community over there made you happy. I hope ours will also bring you some joy, even if just a little.

JSYK, that's not even a remotely comprehensive list. It is a list of mods I like that are of a decent standard. Hopefully this is of some use to you. =]

The reason is, I like more historical mods for Civ V. I did try the Elder Scrolls mod, but I was not a huge fan of that. Better to just play the map with the vanilla civs that inspired the fantasy ones, rather then the new civs. Expecially the Empire. All war-focused, just a bad civ on the whole.
That said, I did play as Equestria for a while. She lends well to a Scientific or Diplomatic victory, and is very, very poor at war. Which is good, don't mean to say she should be a war-monger, I'm just saying. Rather OP, but on the whole, fun to play as. New Lunar Republic is interesting, as an alternative to England as a naval superpower, but I prefer Equestria. That said, if I find the New Lunar Republic, I do all in my power to make sure we stay the best of friends. We are practically a single nation with two rulers, by the time I'm done.
As for any other pony civs... Nah. Just not interested. I will take a look at the model-replacer, it seems very interesting. Thanks for the sugestions!
(You know, I don't think I could ever trade Horse while playing as Equestria. I would be a slave trader! D:)

I'll vote for Desdendelle, Iximaz, and Poor Cynic. All three seem like good candidates for the role.
With regards to Kaitlyn, I'm going to have to vote no, mostly because of your comment that she wouldn't use it if she had it. There's nothing wrong with recognizing the longest-standing member, but I think there should be a better way to do it than to give her a job she's not interested in having.
Especially Iximaz, though. Because she's awesome.

I vote for Desdendelle (not voting for myself; my ego's not that big). Iximaz is a good writer and a fine part of this community, but I'm not sure about her critiquing ability.
As for Kaitlyn, it's been repeated several times throughout this thread: being a PG is a job, not an honor. If she isn't going to do the job, then why should she get it?
I'm casting my vote for all three nominees, and for Kaitlyn (uh, that was probably obvious). Because, no, she's not around to actively use it - but as Neshomeh pointed out, we don't need PGs around; this is more in the nature of recognition of long (long long long) membership of the PPC.

I agree that recognition of such a long membership is absolutely deserved, but I wonder if a PG hat is the way to go with that. As you said, being a PG is not an honor, but a job. Maybe there should be an honorary title/hat/gift that we could give, as a community, to people who deserve recognition. We do something similar where I work. If someone does something worthy of recognition, we give them a S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R. award (all of that means something that is too long and ridiculous to remember). It is just a certificate that says you got the award and a small section in the quarterly newsletter. Just a little thing to say "We appreciate what you do/have done."

My main and original point was this: isn't it a bit strange that we're saying that the person who's been reading PPC stories longer than any of us, is someone we don't trust to say whether a given person can write PPC stories well?

In a way, you're right and it makes sense. On the other hand, what other people said also makes sense and there is little point in making Kaitlyn a PG if she's not gonna do any (or do very little) PGing.

It kinda jives with something I've been turning over in my mind awhile, which is some kind of yearly awards-giving thing to recognize stories and writers in the community. That should be its own discussion, though, so I won't go into it further until the vote is over.

As for Kaitlyn... I don't know what to say. On the one hand, she has been our longest lasting member. On the other, I have not seen her in action at all since my joining. That, and the fact she likely will not use it, makes me have to say no for her. However, I agree with Phobos. If she makes a presence in the community again, I would be happy to re-consider.
I vote for Des and Rina, since they're the only ones I've interacted with extensively.
I like PC's stories, but I don't know what the guy's actually like.

On the Kaitlyn proposition, I just don't like the idea of handing out a PG hat just because someone has been here the longest, especially when that person can barely be said to be here at all. I mean no offense to Kaitlyn, of course. If she were to become more active and she wants the job, then I would absolutely revisit this.

As for Kaitlyn... well, I have to agree with the others saying that there isn't much point in giving her the Hat if she isn't going to use it. The way I see it, one of the qualities of a PG is being visible on the Board. The three above share that quality but I can't remember the last time Kaitlyn posted...

Casting in for Iximaz and PoorCynic. We don't strictly need additional PGs, so creating more than the semi-traditional two seems excessive. Nothing against either Des or Kaitlyn whatsoever.

Not voting about myself. That's silly and אין הנחתום מעיד על עיסתו. Voting yes for PC and Iximaz. Similarly to Sarge, I have no problems with Kaitlyn being given a Hat; I'm pretty sure that, were she to actually use it, she'll do it a way most PPC (PPC-ish? PPC-y? PPC-like? Eh, I've no idea).
