*glomps again for good measure* I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY THIS TIME!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is World-Jumper. I found the PPC through TV Tropes, after looking for multiversal organizations to get inspiration for a character I was writing. My fandoms are: Doctor Who (though I have not been able to watch it in a while), Percy Jackson, Elder Scrolls, Portal, Dragon Age (I have only played Origins though), and my largest fandom, My Little Pony. I am a die-hard brony, so much so that my first agents will likely work exclusively in the MLP universe. But, I ramble. I am super excited to be part of this community!
...What was that? I already am in the community? I have permission? And two stories out too? Wow. It's been so long, I plum forgot.
Jokes aside, hello again PPC! Man, it has been a while, hasn't it? Last I checked in, I was working on a campaign! My guy lost. Let's... lets move on. I would rather not rage on the board.
So, what has happened while I was gone? Again? I know I supposedly came back several months ago, but life caught back up to me. Now I am in college, and shockingly, find myself with more free time! In fact, enough free time to work on a certain story I was supposed to be working on for half a year. Yes Iximaz, I have started working on it officially. I have already made some changes, though I would like it if you looked them over. We will have to organize some times we can edit together. I want to bounce some ideas off of you, and see where we want to go from where we are.
Well, enough of that. Let me say, it feels good being on the board again. Let's see if I can get stories out any faster this time around!
Have a Mewtwonite Y and a +1 shovel!
And ever since 2011, all plovers are courtesy Fluttershy.
Look at this little guy:
He's adorable. I just wanna snuggle 'im. Fluttershy has very good stock.
Here, have one of my shed feathers (careful, it's sharp!) and a replica of Anaklusmos/Riptide! Glad to see another MLP and Percy Jackson fan!
And I see that both Iximaz and eatpraylove have sent their greetings already, so yeah, I might as well. I loved your first mission with Marvin and Printworthy, and I've been wondering when you'd do more with those two!
And best of luck with your collab with Iximaz! Given how things are going with the one I'm doing with her, I'm sure it'll be AWESOME! /)^3^(\
First: Coolest. Feather quill. Ever. It's so shiny, like the finest crafted piece of silver. The way the light catches on the membrane, dancing through the soft ridges, much like the aurora swims through the sky. Sharp as all hell, though.
Second: Thanks for the sword! I needed something to write with anyway.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the mission. Looking back, there are a couple scenes I could probably shore up a little, but I think I am just going to leave it be. I am still very proud if it, and do intend to do more with them. Do you have any scenes you loved from it? Any you thought could be done a bit better? I like feedback on my works, so please, let me know what you like or don't like about the mission. Especially what you don't like. I like to know my weaknesses, so I can improve.
She is really good. I think our styles are going to mesh well. She keeps me restrained, and I flesh out the badfic a little. Her biting sarcasm helps a lot too. I am looking forward to when it is complete.
Sorry for the late reply - I'm a really busy student, so yeah.
I don't really have that much to say about your first mission, honestly - it was just THAT good. Your writing style was fantastic, and you handled your agents really well! I look forward to seeing more from you, including your collab with Iximaz - whom I'm really happy to work with as well, of course!
Incidentally, my first mission with my DMS team also dealt with an MLP fic, and one of my agents from said team is a humanized pony. Maybe Rayner and E.V.L. could team up with you guys sometime... ;)
Just on the basis of E.V.L. and Printworthy interaction.
But I love working with both of you. SkarmorySilver pretty much has my agents down to a T (I'm still nervous trying to write his) and World-Jumper came up with the most hilarious joke for our mission yesterday that got me giggling for several minutes.
Here's to many more! Aaand... y'know... getting the first ones done. *raises glass*
The fact that you think that way about my stuff is the sweetest thing that's happened to me this morning! And don't worry about getting a grip on my agents - I'm sure you'll manage! Of course, it's my first time handling a partly digested Deinonychus with grudge issues too, but hey, first time for everything! :D
And if I ever get the time, a collab with World-Jumper would be pretty fun! I just have to get of my current responsibilities (both IRL and for the PPC) out of the way first...
Have an unseen kitten. Don't worry, it's a Siamese. Just follow the meowing. :3
How's it goin? Thanks for the kitten. Now I just need to know where the heck it went...
Just follow the meowing. I'm sure it'll turn up. Especially when it gets hungry. Probably because it ate your food. ;3
Still, you are just new compared to me. I think. Unless you are also a returnbie that I don't know about.
Yeah, I found the little furball. Thing was terrorizing my dog. Now I have to find some containment for it. Wonderful.
I showed up in November. Sorry about the kitten being a furry little invisible terror. Try putting a collar on it? ;)
And did a darn good job, too, I might say. ;)
I guess at this point I'm somewhat of a Middlebie- it'll have been a year on the 23rd, so I'm definitely not a Newbie anymore but not nearly an Oldbie.
I dunno if two counts as several, though... ;)
*high-fives* Well, Tawaki's been popping in lately to deliver LotR badfic and offer advice. There's also a big New Year Chat thread that's probably buried by now, and a gift exchange event running on the other board.
Iximaz has definitely been busy: she released three or four missions while you were gone, mostly in Harry Potter. I released my first mission to overall positive reviews, and my one-time coauthor SkarmorySilver released the first one under his new DMS team (but someone probably told you about that already).
Good luck with that thing you and Iximaz are doing! :)
*High five right back atcha'*
Ah, good to see Tawaki back. I've rather missed seeing the plovers fluttering around.
I'll have to look into that New Year's chat thing. It's rather... Extensive though. Might take a while to get through, but I'll do it!
Oh, fantastic! Congradulations on your first mission! Would you kindly drop a link to it for me? I would love to read it, and I will be sure to give feedback afterwards.
Iximaz has been a busy one, hasn't she? Just wish I had the same amount of drive to get my own missions out. Still, hopefully I can crank out a Marvin and Printworthy short, or a Jumper interlude, or something. First priority, however, is... well, school, but second is that crossover with Iximaz. I have been putting that off for far too long.
Thanks man. I think I'll need it.
"Congratulations" is, admittedly, a tricky word to spell, but it is spelled with a T, not a D.
On a more positive note, welcome back! A piece of news that I've never told the PPC Board: I've been doing a LOT of reading on FIMfiction. Have you, by any chance, read the Dusk Guard series?
Still, if Toey were in my house, it would explain quite a few things. Such as that unbeerable steanch unbearable sench STENCH! Good griff GREIF! GAH!!
Anyway. No, I have not read that. Looks good though, I'll be sure to check it out. Have you read It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door? Classic pony fic, made in season one. It has been compared to LoTR before, and I am inclined to agree. Very, very good fic, that one.
i have only one nitpick: why hasn't anypony told Celestia that Twilight got hurt? correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the assumption that Twilight was kind of... y'know... important.
Think about it. If they call Celestia in, the plot would be over before it began. She could fly in, grab the flower, fly out. So, for the sake of plot, she needs to stay out of it.
Also, know how I said it was rather Tolkien like? That definately includes the tremendous strengths of his writings, but also his weaknesses. The exposition and world building can get in the way of the main story at times. However, when Jet decides to show rather then tell, his imagery is nothing less then breathtaking. More then worth your time, I assure you.
'Because the plot demands it', I mean. If the plot is demanding something that doesn't fit with the world, that's, uh, bad, right? The same as 'Legolas has to have an arranged marriage because otherwise my story won't work!' is bad, even if the story itself is good. It's 'making the world do things it didn't ought'.
hS
Surely you know of other instances where this occurs.
"Why didn't they use the eagles to fly the ring in to Mordor?"
Because the Eagles have minds of their own, and knew that orcs may be stupid, but they know how to fire arrows. Also, they have the Nazgul there, and several other defenses made for attacks from above, so the Eagles went all OH HELL NO! the plot demanded it.
Heck, there is a whole list on TV Tropes about the various ways the plot demanded things happen. So, while bad, it does not severely damage the story. Still very good fic.
And she sat back and said 'meh, if they can't get it done in time and learn something about friendship, I'll zip over there'. It would not surprise me.
The rest of the story is good, even if it did steal>/s> borrow quite a lot from LotR.
You've got a bit of strikethrough, there. :P
Let's see, what else... How about Sunny Skies All Day Long? A short slice-of-life that I think would work wonderfully as an episode of the show.
Or, is crossovers are your thing, Binky Pie? A crossover with MLP:FiM and Discworld. The author captures the writing style of Terry Pratchett so well, I'm half convinced he is Pratchett! While admittedly the Ponyville sections are a little flat, the Discworld chapters are nothing short of brilliant.
Finally, because I feel I must, the only fanfic I have read that did the alicorn OC well (well, save Past Sins, but that's debatable): Order and Chaos. This fic tells the origin story of Discord. While not one of the best fanfics around, it gets points for making a sympathetic alicorn OC. The use of memes can get annoying at times, but on the whole, is written rather well. Note that it was set late season 2, so some things have changed since then.
...You know, I should probably just start a fanfic rec list.
Here you go. (Oh, I forgot to mention that I have a Tumblr now, which is where I'll post my PPC stuff amid a sea of reblogs and short rambles. :3)
It might sound weird if I say this, but dayum, I missed ya! *offers rainbow cupcakes and SPaGhetti*
Well, since you last showed up, I got several more missions out and am currently working on a collab with SkarmorySilver... were you around when he showed up? I can't remember... >
We had quite a few newbies recently, two birthdays, and a big New Year's celebration, too. And now my long-term memory fails me. ^^'
Good to have you back!
*steps aside* Ha! I learned from last time! I won't be hugged that easil-ARG!
I will be honest, I missed you too. I missed all you guys. Except those newbie guys. You know, because I have no idea who they are.
Goodness! I have seen just how many missions you got out! I have a lot of reading to do it seems. You are certainly much faster then I am, anyway. And yes, I remember Skarmory. Hopefully that crossover won't take as long as mine has!
Wait, birthdays? And no Pinkie Pie Party for them!? This is a travesty that must be corrected. I shall get onto the cut&paste congratulations posthaste!
Thanks. It's good to be back.
*glomps again for good measure* I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY THIS TIME!
ARRGH! FOILED AGAIN!! Next time, Iximaz. Next time, I shall not be hugged! You'll see!
Here, have some Lorelei tea. Not predatory, I promise.
