Cupcakes was worse than we thought.
It's not just notorious. It's famous.
It has everything MLP:FIM has in terms of fandom material.

Fanart? Check.

Fan music? Check.

Famous Tumblr ask blogs? Check.

Entire threads dedicated to its replacement!Sue on 4chan? Check.

Its replacement!Sue appearing in FAR more than its fair share of other fanfics? Check.

The last part is the one I'm most interested in. We killed Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie. So what happens when we're in the middle of sporking an another pony badfic and suddenly Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie shows up?

My idea: Assuming Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie isn't the main Sue of the fic (because the sporking inherently cut off all of its ability to generate fics by itself and affect Canon), Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie is basically a walking corpse controlled by the Sue, and we can charge for resurrecting a dead Replacement!Sue.

Pony Sues are necromancers now? Yes, definitely charge them for that. Canon itself helped you guys kill that damn thing, and it should stay that way!

In the Cyclopaedia (yes, the same one from the Protectorate of Plort, Konti-Nyuum), it has this entry under "Kings, Lords, and Knaves":

Pinkamena - Marizu leader. Sworn enemy of the knight Jumper.

This implies that Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie is not only alive, but leading other Sues, in the Protectorate of Plort-verse.
This leads me to the idea that Pinkamena cannot attack canon on her own anymore, as her own impact on canon is nil- so instead, she leads other Sues into attacking MLP, instructing them to bring her along for the ride.

Another idea is that she wants the "quick death" prescribed to her in the sporking but keeps being brought back into badfics by other Sues, and after said sporking has a healthy fear of them.

However, personally, I prefer the zombie idea (for when Cupcakes is actually referred to or even reenacted in a fanfic that had no need for Cupcakes to even be brought up in order to function) or the imitator idea (for when Cupcakes is not referred to as happening in the badfic, we just have a replacement!Pinkie Pie that happens to kill ponies and may or may not be referred to as Pinkamena)

Which is to say, if Cupcakes dies (which it already has), all the fan stuff around Cupcakes, including any reincarnations of Pinkamena, die as well.

A reference to Cupcakes in an otherwise unrelated fic that would bring in Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie would bring in basically a zombified version of Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie- a dead, broken, beaten-up body that's only able to do things because the live Sue in the equation is animating it.

There has to be some sort of line between fics that only branch off of Cupcakes, and fics that branch off of both Cupcakes and MLP, or even simply reference Cupcakes. We can't simply look at a random fic, see the character "Pinkie Pie" or "Pinkamena" torturing somepony in Chapter 12, and say, "Welp, it can't effect canon, because we killed Cupcakes."

Y'know, like in crime stories, when the serial killer is behind bars but somehow strikes again, and it's a big mystery until the good guys figure out it's a different psychopath who admires the original's work and wants to see it continue and maybe win approval from the original.

In "Cupcakes," Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie (henceforth referred to as Cupcakes!Pinkie Pie to distinguish from imitators) predates the episode "Party of One," and therefore is not specified to have straight hair because Pinkie Pie with straight hair wasn't a thing at all. Also, she is depicted as wearing a dress made of sewn-together pony rawhide and pegasus wings, and a necklace of unicorn horns, and nowhere in the fic is she referred to as "Pinkamena."

Typically, however, Pinkamena!Pinkie Pie is depicted as naked, has the straight hair from "Party of One," and nine times out of ten is referred to as "Pinkamena" at least once, giving a LOT of credence to the copycat idea.

It came up on an old buried thread, but basically Cupcakes is a "node" that connects all of its spinoffs to MLP proper. Take it out, and all the others collapse as well, or at least become cut off and can't affect MLP:FiM any more.
