Welcome to the Board! Have some of my world-famous hydrophobic water to commemorate the event. Doesn't evaporate in the Nether!
Hello, I am Mind Tool (sometimes prefaced with "the") and I've been occasionally lurking on and off for quite a while now. I look forward to getting to know this community better, but may not have the time for a while, so don't be surprised if I don't post for long lengths of time.
Like many of you, I am an amateur writer with hopes of getting better and a dislike of bad fanfiction. I've already read TOS and OFUM in their entirety as well as the occasional mission released last year. At some point I may attempt to get permission, but not for a while.
My fandoms include: Star Trek, Firefly, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Sonic the Hedgehog, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Legend of Zelda, the writings of Isaac Asimov and countless others that I have forgotten to mention. I am partway through reading book IV of Steven King's "Dark Tower" series and am probably going to get into the Warhammer 40000 universe (through the dawn of war series). My favourite author is Isaac Asimov.
Once again, I'd like to add that I really look forward to getting to know the community you have here.
P.S. I found this place through TV Tropes... just realised I needed to add that and couldn't find a suitable place to insert it earlier.
Here, have some bubble wrap. I like your username, by the way.
Please take this fresh Awake!
Welcome-ish to the Board! Here, have some Bleepnerds and a huggle! -huggles-
*Freezes and moves backward stiffly from hug*
Thanks for the Bleepnerds...
You... dun' like my hugges...?
I just like my personal space. And being given ample warning about any impending hugs. (no offense meant, I'm like that in real life too)
How are you about having confetti guns go off in your general direction?
I'm fine with that, so long as they aren't point-blank.
These are almost as fun! :D
Feel free to place your sanity in the labled receptical by the door, you won't be needing it here. To commemorate your enterance into our community, have a tinfoil hat! It may not be sturdy, but it's perfect at protecting your brain from psychic attacks and aliens!
Greetings, new friend! In honor of joining, and to celebrate getting halfway through the Dark Tower series, have a copy of one of the Wizard's glasses! It's just a cheap knock-off, but that comes with the benefit of only being slightly evil.
Err... Thanks?
*places glass a good distance away from self*
I haven't gotten far enough yet for much to have been revealed about the Wizard's Glass, so I'm not quite sure whether to thank you for it or not.

I always get excited when I see that someone's a Trekkie (or Trekker, if you prefer). Which is your favorite series? I like TNG and Voyager almost equally, it depends on my mood.
Have a tribble as a welcome present! Don't worry, it's spayed/neutered. ;)
Also, Big Bang Theory. I'm totally not into that at all. (Bazinga!)
I haven't seen much of Next Generation beyond a few movies and three episodes of season two, but I prefer it over the original series' style in many ways. I haven't seen any Voyager at all, but plan on watching it at some point. Similarly, I haven't seen much of Enterprise and am slightly nervous about watching it given all the hate it gets, but I still plan on checking it out (if only to find out why everyone hates it). Finally, we get to Deep Space Nine, which is definitely my favourite out of what I have seen. I also enjoy Star Trek Online, although I haven't been on much lately.
Hello, hellooooo. Have some Lemming repellent; you will definitely need it!
Hi, have some fudge!
Do you prefer Asimov's SF writing, his mysteries, or something else? With him, you've got to narrow things down ;) .
Mostly his Foundation series and robot stories. You made a good point about needing to narrow it down with Asimov, he was a very prolific author.
Thanks for the fudge.
Is the Tool in your name a probe?
Have a Serenity ship-in-a-bottle.
No, my name is actually from an early stage of an original fiction idea and is just something I kept from it because nobody else on the internet used it as a handle. The "Tool" in question is actually a sentient AI. As you might expect, the "Mind" part was originally an acronym (you know, like wacky computer programmers love to come up with).
