The plant is indeed a Purple Sage, and the Swiss Army Knife belongs to the All-Purpose Department.

I finally got around to replacing the old BG with one that will actually display all the flash patches whole. There are more and different ones now, so that one question in the Permission self-check will need to be changed accordingly.
I tinkered with/redesigned some of them so that they're all the same resolution, so that's why... I think just the DOGA and FicPsych ones? look different than they do elsewhere. I messed with the DBS one, too, but I was able to find the same three-eyed ducky image at a larger size, so it's not really noticeable.
Lemme know if you have any problems with the new BG, such as it not displaying properly on your screen, and I'll try to fix it.

So I was randomly browsing pages whilst trying to avoid revision, and the link to the PPC Manual doesn't work, or rather goes to a 'page not found' page. Is there still a copy of the Manual on the web?
Webs is cruel and likes to capriciously deactivate websites. In this case, it's probably due to a lack of activity on the account. If I go log in, it may come back, so I'll give it a try.
~Neshomeh
... Or I thought I did. It doesn't seem to be working, though. O.o
Did you maybe change the e-mail address at some point?
~Neshomeh
I think it's old enough that you should be able to sign in as ppc_manual.
hS
You can try the password you've got with huinesoron@hotmail.com; if neither that nor the site-name work, I can reset the password.
hS
I'm shocked. I was sure I'd remembered it properly. {= /
~Neshomeh
I'll email you the new password; it's really good. ^_^

The background does not display many of the flash patches at higher resolutions. I can only see four on a 1920x1080 computer and all of them on a much smaller Chromebook.
Any pointers as to why?
Can you get me a screenshot, by any chance? Also, what OS and browser are you using, just in case that's relevant?
~Neshomeh
it seems that there are some flash patches that I do not recognize. What is that patch with the flaming man in the bowler hat?
And isn't FicPsych's flash patch five exclamation marks, not three?
Department of Personnel; see also Flash Patch.
As for the FicPsych patch, it does have five, but it's rather wider than the other logos (which tend to be more tall than wide), so I was losing one behind the content area. I sacrificed the outside two for symmetry.
I also messed with the DOGA and DBS patches so they'd all be the same resolution; I was able to find the same image at a larger size for the DBS one, though, so it's not as noticeable.
~Neshomeh
Nicely done. I'll try and update the question in the morning.
Assuming the plant is a Purple Sage, the only one I don't know off the top of my head is the Swiss Army Knife.

I count 12 patches on the new background, which is the same as the current question. I don't think we give out the answers on the self-check, so I don't think anything needs changing?
How much of the background I can see depends on the screen size. On my work computer, which is 1280x1024, the outer patches are chopped in half (exactly so, actually, looking at the cactus and waterlily). Still looks good, though, and at home (with a wider screen) I can see them entirely.
hS
Now with smoother tiling and more columns for wider screens. And I decided to let FicPsych keep all its exclamation points; I guess it's okay if the content area hides one on the inside.
~Neshomeh
But as you say, that's not really fixable. ;) The FicPsych patch is now partially covered on both computers.
Also, it looks like there's something going on with the vertical spacing for Postal-DMS-DoSAT-Floaters; they seem closer together than the rest. I'm not sure if that's just that DMS and DoSAT both have fairly tall icons, though.
hS
Though the spacing between the Postal and DMS rows is in fact less than it was in the previous version, because I fixed it to be consistent with instead of greater than the rest. I'm guessing it's as you say, that those logos just take up more space on the patch than the others.
Screenshot, just in case?
~Neshomeh, thinking about making a new DMS design to replace her very, very old one, and then I'll have to do this all over again, but it might be worth it.
Link to screenshot. I've drawn yellow lines showing the gaps that feel smaller; I also went over it with a digital ruler and confirmed that they're all the same distance apart.
Also also wik, this is the view on my work computer; the scrollbar cuts right where the image stops.
Once again, thank you for improving this; it looks really good. ^_^
hS
But yeah, twelve it is. Guess I should've actually counted the previous background tile and not just gone on instinct. >.>
Oddly enough, on the giant screen at my store, the inner patches are almost entirely hidden by the content area. I'll probably add a duplicate row or two to the outside. I don't think I can fix your problem, though, unfortunately. I had a heck of a time getting both rows to show up on my laptop screen, which has a decently wide resolution of 1366x768.
