I don't mean stuff like traps that would possible kill people, because that's a bad idea. What I want to know is are harmless pranks such as filling someone's house with chickens alright? I want to make sure this sort of banter is fine with everyone before doing anything.
This is basically what it says on the lid here.
Would anyone be interested in such? If there's a sizable enough group- which in this case would be at least more than myself- I'd have no problem with poking out for a Minecraft Realms server, since they don't cost that much at all.
In the Ingame week leading up to The New Year, foofooman3 spawned a Wither, in the hopes of creating a Beacon. Failing to solo the Evil Construct, he put out a call for help. SeaSurtle and I answered.

The Aftermath: I lost the stuff I used to prepare for the fight, but that's OK. We have a beautiful object, known as the Nether Star. To another year of prosperity!

Reality just hasn't caught up, yet.
I spawned a wither, got it to about 3 hits away, and died. Then it healed back up and it's running rampant.
At about 7:30 est tonight, we will attempt to kill the wither. Anyone who wants to help is welcome, but the chance of dying is very high. Hopefully this whole fiasco will be fixed soon.
The way you said it, seems the thing have been having fun for hours.
It's far enough from my base that it's not loaded in unless I go to my xp farm. It messed up the terrain away from my base pretty bad, but it's not much of a big deal.
I visited it yesterday. Bulding this palace must have asked for many efforts. Kudos for that. (P.S.: Did you went after the Ender Dragon? I'm asking because achievements with the Wither are triggered after the ones about the Dragon.)
When is everyone available to kill the enderdragon? Hopefully we can get a good number of people together and have some fun. I've already found a stronghold and have most of the eyes.
(I don't currently own an axe unfortunately). I need a lot better gear seeing as I'm currently running around in a full set of iron, but I'm willing to give it a go. I'm normally on in the evenings/nights for BST, so I may be slightly out of sync with everyone else but I can come on earlier/later if need be.
...but I've got crap gear at the moment. I'd need at least a Power V bow, a lot of arrows (or Infinity), a better sword, some enchanted diamond armour, ender chests, supplies to go inside said ender chests, healing potions, ladders to scale the obsidian pillars, and other various pieces of equipment necessary to wage war against the dragon.
I'm also on usually in the late evening, so that's not quite useful.

Why are we setting fire to forests now? Get a few axes and chop trees down, darn it-- don't light something prone to go out of control.
But also because the forest was getting murderously infested with mobs every night.
Has fire been un-nerfed? Last I checked it was hard to get it to transmit more than five blocks before it burnt out. (Which was a shame - I loved dropping fires in forests and coming back to wastelands. But I digress.)

I used pretty much six flint and steel for the area around the spawn, and I had to clean up some spots with axes. And I didn't try with the cliff side of the spawn.
Ooh, that would be so much fun! We could do all the things and make all the stuff. If you did that I'd definitely be on all the time. That is truthfully a splendid idea.

but you aren't allowed to give it to another zombie, or eat it yourself. I have to make sure, people have taken my words literally in MC before.
And why?
I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised, considering I was chopping trees and flattening that adjacent land out for future expansion for Spawn Central.
Just to let you guys know I'm currently working on building a base in some tunnels underneath the river downhill from spawn. I know I've already dug into someone else's mine by accident and have blocked up the passage for now.
Just thought I'd let you know in case someone decided to deepen the river and then flood my tunnel network.
Now, for the explanations.
I began with the ugly pseudo-cube on the top of the pyramid, before beginning to mine it my usual way: going downwards, carving a room 4 blocks huge, strip-mining them and covering them with torchs to explore with minimal creep intrusion.
However, I usually don't do this on a hill, so I ended up piercing it again and again. That was when I decided to build proper walls for each room, making sure I knew its limits, and eventually creating something which could be spotted by people coming back from exploration.
Since that was quite ugly, I settled for the pyramid you saw, with a face cut short for not encroaching on Spawn Central's underground, and a zone more advanced for covering a cliff of the hill.
Now, if people want to work on it too, by amenaging the rooms or helping for decoration, I'd be glad to let them do this. The structure can also be a relatively secure start point for mining the galleries.
The lowest room for the moment also has got a small garden I began, although the room is to amenage (the all-cobble floor is a mean for me to know if I'm still under the structure when I'm mining deeper, although accomodations will have to be made for the garden. Eh, a cobble 'road' could be made for the galleries too.)
Of course, if you find it ugly/useless, say it. I can always bury it with the dirt I dug. Or making bigger degrees to make more space for each room. Anything you deem fit.
I'm actually pretty displeased.
I spent a couple hours last night detreeing and then flattening out that area so logging on this morning to find that there was an immense gaping hole with a cobblepyramid in its place with floating land to the side in its place wasn't exactly the nicest surprise.
SeaTurtle had already started a mining operation closeby, but not too far away.
The fact that the whole area was cleared and flattened by someone not you should have given you pause to consider and check first, instead of running roughshod like that, especially considering that there's a whole lot of map where you could have done it elsewhere.
Basically it comes down to: Why did you decide to stripmine on spawn, right next to the fort, and take over an awful lot of space that someone else had done work on prior?
Nothing to say. I'm covering the whole mess to get a clean, flat and large area back for you, erase any traces of it inside the hill as soon as possible, and give anything I mined here, so you can do anything you want with it.
I genuinely didn't know that there already was work here. Believe it or not. And I thought about creating an expansion for the fort here. Not making any excuses, they won't solve the mess I did.
Okay, got work to do here. You should have the land back as soon as possible.
If anyone has found something interesting in the map, feel free to post coordinates here. I'll start with two offerings, both far south from spawn.
X:22, Z:1328 ---- A large village with a church, blacksmith, and library. Plenty of vegetables to bring back to base too!
X:207, Z:2052 ---- Horses. Horses everywhere.
X: -1269 Z: -1658
They may not be the exact co-ordinates but you can see it from there. It isn't too far from a beach either, it's just a bit of a trek away.
Also if you want giant mushrooms I found a roofed forest that starts around X: -616 Z: -1850
I can attempt to collect some Blaze rods for potion making. Some water breathing and night vision potions could be useful for surviving the depths.
...as soon as I get a horse and some food, I'll go on a long-range scouting trip to see what's around. As far as I can tell, south of spawn is forest, extreme hills, plains, and forests bordering the plains.
Heading to the Nether might be a good idea to travel quickly.
I explored west of spawn for about 1,000 blocks or so and found lots of forests and flowers but not much else.
This is a challenge to see how long I can go without meeting him on the server. It started when he threatened to beat me up for my lunch money. I ran away. Please note that I do not bear any ill will towards him IRL, and this is all in the name of comedy. Let's see how crazy this is going to get.

I probably won't be on for a bit 'cos I need to migrate my minecraft account to a Mojang account, and I've got problems doing that.

When I originally got a Minecraft a friend bought the account and I paid him for it. However in doing this my account had his email on it, we both thought he'd transferred the account to me years ago, but it appears he hasn't as none of my emails work with the account so he's going to try and transfer the account to me once he finishes work and see where things go from there.
Yeah, that can happen.
...though my ping would be pretty bad considering I live all the way up in Canada and I can only imagine the lag if a European Boarder tried to connect.
I could build underground bases. Houses in caves! (Empty) Villages in ravines! Subterranean gardens! Stuff! But all underground. I can't do building exteriors for squat.

One more question: what is the world seed? We can use Mineatlas to get our bearings and scout out for interesting biomes.
