A mate showed me a video, which sets out to destroy misconceptions about medieval armour in the best way: by having grown men hit each other with metal sticks.
It's quite surprising, actually, especially the combat roll he does.
It is, if I do say so, much cooler than in fantasy works.
He hoists the other bloke up by the pants and tosses him to the floor, in full metal armour!
I'd like to see that bugger, Eragon, try that. His hand would probably pop right off the instant he gets hold of the fabric. -

It's interesting to see how much is exposed at the back. I guess they weren't too worried about being attacked from behind? Or else it was just a calculated risk to reduce the weight of the armor and maintain the maneuverability we see in the video.
Very impressive. Also very loud. Too bad they didn't do anything to reduce the echoes in that hall.

I'm sure having an exposed back is fine. by

The only problem arising from an exposed back is someone sneaking up on you, and it's a bit hard to sneak up on someone when every time you reach down to shoo a mosquito off your thigh it sounds like the local marching band mixed their instruments up with an assortment of saucepans and baking trays.

It's good to hear what the fight would be like, though. Yes, knights didn't usually fight in echoey halls, but they did fight alongside lots of other people in clanking armor, so I imagine the effect would be similar.
All in all, this is a very cool reference.
