Once Hawlucha is set up and unburdened not much can beat it, well done.
Since it's been bumped off the front page again, have another link to the rules doc.
Reminder to Data Junkie, you have until the 15th to respond to Storme Hawk's challenge or you will be disqualified.
The L21 slot (the one who will face either DCCCV or Voyd) is empty. Is that normal?
But the fact the name disappeared like this feels a little strange.
I'll fix that once I'll actually wake up.
...time for our teams to meet on the proving grounds. I will be good to go anytime after 7pm EST starting from tomorrow onwards. I'll keep you posted if there are any delays.
So good luck and have fun in advance. At least we'll be seeing some Ground types in the finals-- our legacy will live on!
Hmmm 7pm EST is rather late for me, but I should be able to do any time between 7pm and 9pm EST on Tuesday or Wednesday whichever is best for you.
Hey, if we both play our cards right we could end up meeting again in the finals. Good luck and have fun as well, let's make it a semi-final to remember.
Trainers locked in battle! Kicking the earth and dancing in the air alongside their Pokémon! They storm through this field! Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution of battling! ACTION DUEL!
Can you feel the power?
I think I've got to get my game on to win this one.
It's been ages since I last played Yu-Gi-Oh, (used to watch the first two series quite a bit in my childhood) think I've still got a couple of decks lying around somewhere at home, wonder if they're any good compared to the stuff being used now?
Where was it... ah, yes. Nope.avi
Long answer: Yu-Gi-Oh! is basically Power Creep: the Game. If you're running a GX-era (or, gods forbid, original series-era) deck, chances are you'll get OTKed left, right and centre. You know the bit about Summoning a bunch of monsters in one turn? It's pretty much a foregone conclusion these days.
Although from the looks of it at least Relinquished is still decent (yeah, almost all my cards are from the original series-era). I think my Beast deck would be the only one that could stand any sort of chance (it can severly limit what you can put on the field quite easily, and then easily destroy what you can put on the field), although seeing as no-one I know plays Yu-Gi-Oh I doubt I'll ever have a chance to find out.
Still, it makes me feel quite old with all this new stuff now out.
There is an online site for playing, with a database including many, if not most, of the published cards, if you really want to find it out.
Yu-Gi-Oh! DevPro, which is a programme, not a site. There was a site — duelingnetwork — but they got hit with a Cease & Desist a couple weeks ago.
I'm pretty suree I was reffering to thhe site. I saw my brothers play with it a long time ago, so I didn't know they got closed.
But it has no card artworks whatsoever thanks to the C&D.
Without the artwork, they can expect a serious drop in popularity.
(By the way, do you have cards? I've still got a deck Zombie with three Red Eyes Zombie Dragons. Always fun to destroy an enemy with his own cards.)
*goes to look*
Whaddya know, I actually do! The highlights are "Vampire Genesis" (Ultra Rare), "Dark Eradicator Warlock" (Ultra Rare), "Dark Magician" (Common, 3rd TCG artwork), "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" (Ultra Rare, 1st TCG artwork), "Scapegoat" (Super Rare) and "Penguin Soldier" (Super Rare). I also have what's still my favourite card bar none (despite its crappy effect) — "Gearfried the Iron Knight" (Common).
IIRC, I had Starter Deck: Joey, Starter Deck: Pegasus, and the Zombie Madness and Spellcaster's Judgement structure decks. Och, those were the days — when Zombie Madness was OP as hell.
My deck is based upon the World of the Zombies structure deck, but here again, my brothers got te lion's share of cards. One of them combined Spellcaster's Judgement and Spellcaster's Command for a super Spellcaster deck. I still got a decent Lightsworn deck, but it still remain far from perfection. In the past I even had a VWXYZ deck, complete with all the fusions possible, But it's buried with other stuff now.
Speaking of Gearfried, what do you think of its Swordmaster version?
I am quite flexible with my schedule; if this turns out not to jive for you, just give me a shout and we can reconvene.
Heh, I never thought I'd get this far. Now that I know I've got a guaranteed trophy, I'll be 100% focused on having a blast for these final few matches. I don't mind losing-- I just want a good, clean game. Or two.
I don't think I ever honestly thought I'd get a trophy either. But now that I've got here I'd like to get as high as possible, but if I lose I lose and that's the way the dice were rolled.
Please check your e-mail. Given the current bracket, I have to challenge you, so... yeah! I challenge you!
Here's the new match location:

I'm Geosternbergia, btw :)
That was quite a hard-fought battle. When would you be ready for our match?
Check it out here!
...Anytime Friday through Sunday in the Americas will work for me
Saturday evening would probably be best for me, I'm busier on Friday but could potentially do it at some point, and there's no real chance of me getting the time on Sunday. Although this is in BST. Which reminds me, which time zone are you in?
So... 7 or 8 your time saturday sound good?
I normally have dinner around that time on a Saturday, does 9:30 my time sound ok?
As Ihavenoinsurance.
Well, the metaphorical gauntlet anyway. What times are you free?
5:00 PM Eastern Time or Later. If I am available I'll be in the writing room in Showdown.
I'm free most evenings so that's good. I'll try and be on around 9PM tonight (for me). My name on Showdown is Ihavenoinsurance.
Also I do not know what time zone you are in. So I do not know what time that would be
So GMT+1, meaning I meant to say 10pm my time because I forgot that the clocks had gone forwards a couple of weeks back. Which also explains some of the problems I had with DataJunkie.
Anyhow I'll be on from roughly 8pm my time (3pm yours) tonight.
I'm on for the next 50-60 mins, but then I have to go. If you can't get on tonight I'm free tomorrow from 11pm my time (so 6pm yours) for an hour or so.
I believe I have time on Wednesday. When are you free?
GAME ON
(... that was a Markiplier reference.)
Come watch the excitement! http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/battle-monotype-357604912
Sorry. I wasn't really understanding the bracket system.
So, eatpraylove, I'm in Mountain Standard Time, and generally available between 7:30 and 11:00 in the evening.
—doctorlit is not very effective . . .
My schedule's pretty free, aside from a few hours Wednesday-Thursday, but you Americans are asleep then anyway.
I'll be in that "writing" chat room, I guess?
—Super Nerd doctorlit wants to battle!
*Hawlucha-as-Tonkor intensifies* (other words, Hawlucha sweeps everything).
Once Hawlucha is set up and unburdened not much can beat it, well done.
MY BODY IS READY
How even?
I got lucky. That's the only way I could have won. Luck was my lady today.
That was the most surprising battle I've seen so far! Good luck to you both in future rounds!
That decision being to get out of bloody bed this morning because it clearly wasn't going to be worth it.
Why yes, I am salty as all hell. =]
Good match, though, and good luck against Hardric or whoever. =]
You are expected to display it with pride. ;)
For the record: the Gold and Silver trophies will go to the winner and loser of battle 36/37 (depending on whether it's replayed). The bronze trophy will go to the loser of battle 35, since the loser of the other semi-final (33) will be taking part in that battle.
Unless I've gotten confused again.
I think this means SeaTurtle has to win a trophy now?
hS
...then he's guaranteed a trophy.
If he loses the semifinal match, he'll have to battle his way through the loser's bracket to get back to the top.
The semifinal is by definition the last match of the Winners' Bracket. That means its loser drops into the last entry slot in the Loser's Bracket - L33. So if you:
-Win the semi: you go into the final and are guaranteed silver or gold.
-Lose the semi: you drop into L33, and take part in the Losers' Semi, where if you:
--Win: you go into the final and are guaranteed silver or gold.
--Lose: you get the bronze.
SeaTurtle is guaranteed a trophy, as is whoever faces him in battle from this point on.
hS
My team will have a place in the famed(?) PPC Hall of Champions?
Well then, I'll try to make the upcoming match as interesting as I can. People love a good show, right? Witness me!
The L36 slot is if the finals match is the loser's first loss, not the semifinals.
I'll resign next year, I swear.
-Iximaz will resign next year.
-Iximaz associates resignation with the concept of swearing an oath.
-Iximaz is American.
-The American president will be leaving office next year, after having initially been sworn in.
==> Iximaz is Barack Obama.
Cool.
Further evidence:
-Iximaz has short hair (see: Time Lord costume pictures).
-Iximaz cosplayed as Lord President Rassilon.
-Iximaz and Obama have never been seen together.
I think my case is watertight. ^_^
hS
(Though I was just a generic Time Lord, not specifically Rassilon.)
...so that my team will ride eternal, shiny and chrome.
I'd slipped back into thinking that your slot in the loser's bracket was determined by what battle you lost, not by when you lost it. (Does... does this mean that if the tournament had gone fast enough, someone could have lost their first battle and jumped straight to the finals? It does, doesn't it?)
hS
Not only have I responded, I have waited on three separate days for Storme Hawk to show up, with no luck. I'm not sure our schedules are lining up at all.
You responded that Wednesdays from 7pm your time was best, I waited for two to three hours on last Wednesday and I didn't see you, and I've said about doing it this Wednesday instead, neither time have you replied. I'm sorry I haven't been on the last couple of nights but I've been spending them with some friends who I haven't seen for a few months and probably won't see again for a month or two. If you give me a date and a time then I will try my utmost to be on then.
Odd. I got on around 7 pm my time, and waited for several hours as well, and not only did I not see an "ihavenoinsurace", the people in the writing and tournament channels said you'd been in but left earlier, so maybe our timing was off.
I can do today any time, or literally any Wednesday after 11 PM GMT. I'm Junkieofdata on Showdown.
Fair enough, I may have mucked up my times so sorry about that. I'm on now, and I'll be on tomorrow from 11pm GMT so whenever you wish.
In what times are you available?
Wednesday after 7 pm EST, Sunday and Tuesday after 12 pm EST
The question is: 7pm is 19:00 and 12pm is 00:00 the next day, right?
7 PM is 1900, 12 PM is 1200. 12 am is 0000. I know, I don't understand it either.
02:00 in the night is a tad too late. Therefore: hopefully this Tuesday.
That's "after two o'clock in the morning" and "after seven in the morning". I'll have to check my work schedule.
I must have missed it in the thread. (Jeez, that was getting long.)
The wheel of fate is turning...
Rebel 1, action!
Good luck in the winner's bracket!
If you're free for a battle, I can be around for the next couple of hours. Then it'll be bedtime, I'm afraid.
hS
Here it is for those who want to watch.
Since I'm now out I get the Pewter Trophy, right?!?, I figure it's not inappropriate to share my team-makeup + battle-planning document. Should be good for a laugh, right?
The Ring of Fire
hS
Kudos for that. The only catch here is that Mega Gengar is illegal, so you didn't have to worry about it.
It still remains sound legwork. Sorry for your loss.
