Is a mini solely created when a character or place is misspelled/ uncapitalized? Because in the Harry Potter fic I'm working on sporking, there are a number of spells that are either misspelled or uncapitalized when canonically they should be capitalized (ex: the fidelius charm). Should these just be written off as SPaG errors, or do they create minis?
If it doesn't, it's just SPaG.
I mean, imagine all the minis Tumblr would spawn just for their collective disregard for capitalisation unless provoked...
I deal with minis quite often, considering I'm writing an OFU.
About capitalization: I think it only matters if the capitalization is important to the spelling. For example, there's a Star Trek: Voyager character named B'Elanna Torres. B'elanna is a mini, and so is b'elanna (and Belanna, for that matter). But torres is incorrect capitalization, not an actual misspelling. Also, something like DAta instead of Data is a mini.
Whether spells make minis: I'm not sure. For Trek I've been collecting misspellings of starships and gadgets and making them miniature versions of those things. So maybe spells would fall in a similar category, or have some entirely new property when misspelled or mis-capitalized (is that a word?). I think somebody suggested that the spells backfire, which is a good idea.

The DS' internet function was added secondarily, when Nintendo realized that they'd forgotten something.

What happens to cannon is entirely up to you of course, but I can see mispronounced spells wreaking havoc in the 'fic. It can also serve as a really ironic assassination technique...
But most of them aren't incorrectly spelled/pronounced. They're just not capitalized. I'm so confused as to what to do.
Basically, all of the vocabulary that was canonically capitalized is lowercase, such as the word/job Auror and a bunch of spells. These aren't necessarily proper nouns, just words that JKR made up herself.
Whenever a word's not capitalized when it should be, we jokingly say it's a "small [word]," so the spells would have less of an impact.
Also, when JKR says they're proper nouns, they're proper nouns.
Sounds like an amazing weapon for assassins to use against god-sues or the like.
And the ammo is the spiritual essence of the pages of the book in question.
Heck, I do it all the time with World of Warcraft!

The lore in a minute video is informative, but is there something I can read somewhere? I need something to take my mind off Mass Effect.

What, praytell, is that? Sounds like a luncheon put on by a particular fandom, where they would explain who they are and what they are about. They would serve food from/based off their world, and overload the guests with information. May be wrong though.

Food from the continuum might be nice, though. If I ever present StarCraft, we'll have to settle for Terran cooking. Mutalisk wings, anyone? No, there's no chance of infestation from eating it, I swear...
And by the wiki, I mean WoWWiki. It's not exhaustive, but it's a terrific place to start.
The general storyline focuses mainly on the interactions between the Horde and Alliance during some of the main planetary setting's darkest hours - like the first attack of the Burning Legion on Azeroth, the Sundering, the opening of the Dark Portal, the Cataclysm, etc.
That's the quickest way to sum it up, methinks. But once you really get into the different stories from each character's perspective, it's really quite a fascinating fandom (I think). Especially characters like Varian Wrynn, on whom I am absolutely not crushing. At all.
Except maybe a little.

Boy, short-term memory, huh? I was looking up the Sue spectrum when I first found it.

But maybe specific titles of spells could work as well.
