(This has nothing to do with the PPC, I'm afraid.)
So a week or two back I ran into this:
Game of Thrones - the French Baby Boys' Names Edition
It's a look at regional trends in boys' names in France since WWII, written up with a vague attempt to make a story out of it.
I was amused. And then I was inspired. ^_^ I figured I could write a better story around what's basically a random number generator than they could, and I figured there would definitely be regional name-data for the UK.
On the second part, I was right. On the first... I'll let you judge that.
Name of Thrones: Sceptred Isle
~
Then I thought about doing the same for North America (because my hubris knows no bounds), but...
Yeah, not only are your borders too straight to make a good map, you're just too indecisive to tell a story with...
Plus, Canada absolutely hates giving out name data. You wouldn't believe.
So you only get the British story. I hope you enjoy it anyway?
hS
But I can't make the ideas come out of my head. :(
hS
You keep pulling these ideas out all over the place, I feel like you're going to misalign a neuron, or break something.
I feel like you're in danger.
The book's always better than the movie, anyway.
No worries.
That was actually an interesting read! I kept half-expecting to see Elizabeth pop up on there and was mildly surprised when the name never showed up.
I like how you set the stage for future conflict. :P Maybe we could get a sequel in a few years?
I think England and Wales are currently buying into the US -a name theme... which, come to think of it, my daughter fits into perfectly. :-/ Maybe there's something to it.
I really want to see the 2015 data (to find out how well Amelia retained her crown), but it probably won't come out till August. :( Maybe I will remember this in a decade and do the sequel...
hS
I actually got to caring about the characters as it went on. Kudos!
~Neshomeh, who wonders if there's a beta-reading badge.
Yeah... I ended up utterly despising Olivia, which I think happened because of the colour I (randomly) picked for her. Funny how things can influence your perception. I know I was rooting for Emily purely based on her gold-colour, it's probably my favourite in the MSPaint palette. Certainly beats standard yellow.
hS
Possibly because of her color, and because: revolution.
Just when I thought you were done taunting us. >.>
What are you people going on about?
He created badges for the PPC, and since he's a sadist, we're on our own for figuring out what they mean.
I like the evilly smiling skull cup.
We've got a Sun badge. We've got an Earth badge. Where's the Moon badge?
Also...what do the Sun and Earth badges mean? I still don't know.

Since domirossi, Elcalion and Tomash, who posted only in the Shipfest thread (and thus didn’t get the regular "wooden post" badge?) all got the "sun" badge, figuring out what they and most other boarders did, but dorano, 1visible, LonelyStar, Mister Shoebox and sonofheaven176 didn’t do, shouldn’t be too difficult.
I would guess that the sun is for morning people, who post at least occasionally before 12:00am or get "am"-times at all.
Firemagic, PoorCynic and ratbrainbasher got 12:..am only yesterday, and DCCCV posted at 2:38am the day before yesterday, so the next document update might confirm this theory.
If there weren’t TheShyIon’s post at Sat Mar 5 1:20am. But then, Huinesoron isn’t infallible. Also, the last update was "four days ago", so this may not yet be included?
HG
Whose morning? Does the board show the time each person posted in their own time zone? Like, it's 9:30 PM for me right now, but if someone replied to this post a minute later and it was 10 AM where they were, would their post show up as being at 9:31 PM or at 10 AM? And what if it's noon for hS?
... and my local time is approximately 19:30 (that is 7:30pm Central European Time). It shows as approximately 1:30pm, so Board time is apparently American Eastern Standard Time regardless from where we post.
HG
It’s probably just where the server hosting the Board is located.
HG
It's actually possible to change it to anything we want, but I don't see any reason to do that; it would just confuse things.
'snot like it means anything anyway.
hS
It now says "Last update six days ago", but how can this be if we got the GEI-badges for "A Dungeoneer’s Tale" and "A Maze of a Board" two days ago?
Huinesoron must have seen DCCCV’s post at Tue Mar 8 2:38am and TheShyIon’s at Sat Mar 5 1:20am. Maybe these were too early in the morning (no sun up yet)?
The sun badge is for posting between sunrise and midday?
HG
Seems pretty clear it's for people who received hS' newbie gifts.
And the Sib badges are self-explanatory too. (With additional theory that the one with a skull cup is also for people greeting a newbie.)

The globe badge is for those who have posted in the dungeon thread.
Kelpie posted in the thread, and they don't have it.
What I want to know is why some people don't have "post" badges even though they have other ones. Have we been wrong the whole time about the posting badge? O.o
~Neshomeh
Maybe you only get the posting badge for regular posts, outside of events like the Shipfic Fest? But I'm almost certain firemagic has posted elsewhere, so meh. {= /
~Neshomeh
And I still don't know what it means! But I got something that looks like a Sonic Screwdriver Badge so I guess it's okay.
*is shot*
I have access to an industrial plant full of chemicals. Bows are so passe.
hS
Looks like you picked one up for commenting in the document. Interesting.
-Phobos, puzzle solver
Would be quite interesting.
