Who else is excited for the show?
Actually, this is more of a "watch" -- I was checking on a suspect fic in the Parasol Protectorate section of the Pit, and decided for some reason to click on "Crossovers".
"Soulless Junction", Kamen Rider + Parasol Protectorate http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8330318/1/SOULLESS-JUNCTION
"Trial 1shot; X-over of Den-O and Soulless. One minute, she was sitting, calmly reading. The next, she found herself wrapped up in an intrigues with a brand new type of monster... a monster made of time. Alexia Terrabotti must now don the mantle of a Kamen Rider in order to protect her timeline from the Imagin... with help from a red Imagin ... Powerful!Alexia, no pairings yet."
I can't judge the Kamen Rider part (and the author admits up front s/he's working from the manga adaptation of "Soulless", not the book), but a mini in the author's summary isn't a good sign.
I also spotted this one in Movies:
"Up, Up, and Away", Avengers http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8824887/1/Up-Up-and-Away
"A cocky entrepreneur, a demigod who doesn't really know his way around, a man with breathtaking anger-management issues, and a couple of master assassins assemble to defend the Earth. At their helm are the soldier out of time and a girl with her head in the clouds-literally. Can they save Earth, or will they have to avenge it? Steve/OC"
Not badly written, but Nellie Cooper/Magpie is tripping Sue alerts -- hand to hand combat specialist, invented specialty weapons as well, genetic enhancements that make her stronger and smarter than most humans and gave her working wings as well. Oh, and she's Hawkeye's cousin as well as instantly clicking with Captain America.
So, back when Lily sporked a Sherlock Sue that went for Mycroft Holmes, I went to see if there were more.
And I found some interesting stuff.
Another M-rated one. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8034669/1/For-King-and-Country
A Stu with Mycroft. That's right, a slash pairing with an OC.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7272850/1/Oliver
And this one, I believe this line says all that's wrong with it. Oh, the Holmes's charm. No woman could ever resist it. Except maybe Adele. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8095809/1/I-Won-t-Give-Up
And a Hunger Games fic that may be a Suefic or just an implausible AU. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8104293/1/Arranged
Many of us have probably seen the T.V. show The Big Bang Theory. Well, apparently, there's quite a bit of Suefic in it. And the Sues go after Sheldon. Yes, Sheldon Cooper. Here are two examples, but there's much more:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7711064/1/LoveHate-Relationship -Nikki is energetic, hyper, loving, and loud. Sheldon is...Sheldon. Two people so different couldn't possibly get along...but could they? R&R please! Sheldon/OC (Sue outsmarts Sheldon about fandom related stuff. Need I say more?)
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7496698/1/The-Cousin-Configuration -Howard's cousin, Ellie, returns to Pasadena when she accepts a job at Caltech. The gang is impressed by her obvious intelligence and the way she can put Sheldon in his place. However,Sheldon can't place this weird feeling he has when he's around her.SC/OC (Howard's cousin is attractive? And Sheldon ditches Amy for her? I don't think so...)
And, of course, if you want to read any more, type "The Big Bang Theory" into the search bar on the Circle of Lemmings. Make sure you bring lemming repellent and Bleeprin.
"Ravenpaw vs Tigerclaw" makes my belly ache, because:
1. Tigerclaw never once uses the word 'yeah'.
2. Tigerclaw is slicker than this.
3. Ravenpaw is the SWEETEST, GENTLEST cat in the series and my absolute favorite.
4. RAVENPAW DOESN'T DIE.
-excuses herself to bawl hysterically-
I have a friend who is really into Warriors. I've never read the series. Would you recommend it?
I've read Warriors. Uh... it's fairly good! If you don't mind the endless stream of replacement words (since cats in the series have their own words for a lot of stuff), you should read it.
There are Parasol Protectorate 'sues? WHAT. Just.... WHAT.
... at least, not many in the Pit. The search engine on the Circle of Lemmings blows the proverbial chunks, either that or my security plugins are hosing the site. Either way, I haven't found any Parasol Protectorate fics there.
Here's the one I'm keeping an eye on: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8316352/1/Heartlines . Three chapters in 10 days, then no updates for five months -- it may have fallen to boredom.
Nothing we didn't see coming...the new movie came out five days ago and it had so many pretty boys...
A few free for claim:
Les Miserables-from the present to the past
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8765179/1/Les-Miserables-from-the-present-to-the-past
NOTE: THIS IS MY FIRST LES MIS FANFIC! no flames please! basically, a young orphan girl gets transported from 21st century America to France during the Revolution! and what's more is, everyone thinks she's a boy! now she must preserve her identity and help the Les Miserables characters fight their battle. no deaths, because i love the ABC to much!
(This one's still on its first chapter, but it has significant potential.)
One Day More
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8842567/1/One-Day-More
Colette has always enjoyed watching the rebellious students' schemes, but soon she finds herself in love with a revolutionary named Enjolras. When their barricade rises at last, what shall unfold? (I know, I'm not the best at summaries, but please read! I am sure you will not regret it, hopefully!)
And I'm claiming this (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8836693/1/Please-be-Mine) lovely Javert's-daughter fic for my own agents to eviscerate. Gives me an excuse to set Maria and Michel against each other again.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but my school did the musical, so I have a general idea of the plot and setting.
And that general idea makes me think that while Les Mis is an excellent story, you do not want to visit it. I mean, I almost understand Tolkienverse Sues. Rivendell is my ideal vacation spot. But why would want to go to a historical time period full of bloodshed and suffering? Hot guys are nice, but not really worth it.
A couple rearranged bits and one new song, but quite close.
Well, considering how many Sues ended up in Sweeney Todd after Johnny Depp was involved, seems Suethors will go ANYWHERE for hot guys...
I just looked up Sweeney Todd.
I will never be surprised at the fandoms I find Sues in.
(On the plus side, those sort of continua will have some good ways of disposing of Sues.)
You seem to be ticked off enough to put two Hs in your name!
I wonder what Sue meat pie tastes like.
(Since my username is fandom specific, it doesn't create a mini-Boarder.)
I am ticked off. I mean, for a PPCer, I'm actually rather forgiving of Sues, because it's kind of my fantasy too, to go visit my favorite fictional location. That is, if it's a continuum that would be nice to visit. But I just don't understand self-inserts into continua that are hostile. I can understand wanting to go to Hogwarts and study magic. I can understand wanting to help John and Sherlock solve a case. But I do not understand wanting to throw yourself into the middle of a bloody time in history or into the arms of a serial killer. *end rant*
I think anything made from Sues would taste sickly sweet and leave sparkles on your teeth.
I do believe you can blame that on Beauty and the Beast.
Or, rather, the "he's-so-hot-he-can't-be-evil" mindset.
I'm afraid Benedict's villian in Star Trek Into Darkness will attract Sues for precisely that reason.
Wasn't Les Miserables a story set in Russia?
And I'm still on the hunt for The Hobbit fics, myself. Because they must exist - Thorin freaking Oakenshield, full stop.
Les Misérables is set in Paris. It's a novel written by Victor Hugo and something which I really should be getting around to reading one of these days...
That's why it's all Frenchy and revolutionary and barricadey and stuff.
...You are? You must've missed this post, then.
I don't know jack about Kamen Rider, outside of hearing that it's kinda like Power Rangers, so that I'll have to let slide.
However, despite my limited comic book superhero knowledge, I feel safe in my assumption that the Avengers one features a perfectionist jack-of-all-trades sue. I don't remember the exact term, but it's spunding that way.
The familial ties with Hawkeye (who I'm still struggling not to call Green Arrow, for whatever reason), and the buddy-buddy relationship with ever-the-stoic Captain America doesn't help to dissuade my fears any.
You can find the stories featuring her here http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1081287/Blinded-Kit
Pretty much every single one marked as a Harry Potter crossover features a insulting Sue-version of Hermione, who gets it on with characters from at least a dozen continua. Chances are, if you like a canon featuring a hot male, you can find it being sullied somewhere on this list.
I've done missions dragging her out of Doctor Who and Torchwood and I'll be claiming the Supernatural fics as well, but she is sprouting new heads faster than I can cut them off, which should also give you an idea about their quality.
The only thing I'm asking, is that noone brings in the Division of Multiple Offences and finishes her off permanently, across all the fics, because that would ruin the fun.
Lily Winterwood, you might want to take a look at her Sherlock fic. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7052272/1/Near-to-You
What... why...how...?
Please, cut her internet connection or something!
why can't we gather together your agents and mine and perhaps a couple others working in the affected fandoms and go hunt some Sue?
I mean, what if every time we moved in to do the Duty Hermione-Sue just moves into another one of her fics?
That'd be simultaneously hilarious and terrifying, not to mention tiring as heck. But it'd be great fun to write, a mad Sue chase across different continua.
Don't know much about any of the continua, but I'd like to take a swing at one as backup, if you'll have me!
I know Harry Potter and Doctor Who, and I don't mind having Anebrin and Des join the hunt for a 'fic or two, preferably as the back-up team.
Not Hermione, but... it's a Thor/Elementary crossover... wait, how does that even work?
Elementary my love, you were so progressive and fantastic and... /sad sigh
Something in me says Sherlocke doesn't case-solve his way out of that one.
Nor does he snark it.
Sadly.
"Before you say anything, remember, I am holding an axe."
Basically Elementary!Holmes would also thrive at the PPC.
Also, would that mean the mission requires a plot-twist?
Curses, why do I always throw in that extra E?
Oh, yeah. If not for the fact that he can logic a blue streak around all our agents, we could become widely renowned with him on board.
And I'm assuming so, yes.
Mostly because it'd explain their huge amounts of distrust in women.
Read: cynical sociopathy, hatred of stupidity, a knack for casually insulting everybody they meet, and analytical ass-kicking skills, according to the two movies.
(Mental Fisticuffs with Moriarty, yesssss.
Totally spelled that name wrong.)
And partnered up with a polar opposite who somehow brings out the better side of him and keeps him on his toes (or does Sherlock keep John/Joan on their toes?)
There's another HP x Sherlock 'fic by the same author: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7037278/1/Dear-Agony
For obvious reasons, naturally.
Oh no, nothing wrong with a Ho!mione on the loose, nope, not at all.
/hides punctured stress ball behind back
Who else is excited for the show?
Uh...
Nailed it?
*Guitar medley*
