Or, how Matt convinced his grandma to watch Lord of the Rings with him.

So, a while ago, I mentioned how my paternal grandmother is the greatest human being on the planet, and that we've decided to watch the original LoTR trilogy. Today, it happened. We've just recently finished the first part of Fellowship of the Ring (we've decided to split the movies, because three hours of sitting isn't something Gran's capable of). We've finished just after the Fellowship left Rivendell, and they've decided to cross Caradhras. Couple of thoughts after that session:

- Gran liked the movie so far; most of her comments was about how good the visuals and the depiction of the fantasy setting was,
- Shire was her favourite location and she would like to live in Bag End,
- "Nuh-uh, not for you." Her comment after Bilbo left the One Ring, and Gandalf tried to touch it,
- She thought hobbits weren't particulary welcome in Bree,
- Before the Bruinen scene, she wondered if the Ringwraiths could't travel during daytime,
- Before the reveal, she correctly guessed that Aragorn was Isildur's heir,

And the best thing of all: I didn't even need to ask about her favourite characters; Merry and Pippin stole her heart, ever since the dragon firework scene. Their every appearance was just conculded with a joyful cackle. I think her best reaction was when Merry broke his carrot ^.^

So, yeah, that was fun watching it with her. I know we're gonna continue watching the movies, but if you guys want me to continue this kind of status update on introducing Gran to fandoms, let me know. After Lord of the Rings, we've decided to tackle Harry Potter.
