If it helps you appreaciating the song there is no problem. And the melancholy of the tune is needed, given the fact this soundtrack is playing after a really nasty boss is destroyed, your time with your new friends is growing short and while you're waiting infos in order to find another character who disappeared only a few days ago, so melancholy is a given.
It's less than two weeks before Christmas, and I'm in a good mood from finishing my last giant history paper, so let's get this game started! No Permission necessary, just a sense of humor, a vaguely musical ear, and a love of Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/winter holiday songs.
Here's how the game works:
1. Pick a seasonal tune that strikes your fancy—anything you like, even if it's been used for this before.
2. Write new words for it with a PPC theme.
2a. As usual, Neshomeh (who has given me her blessing) encourages you to seek for a topic that does not involve Sue-slaying, because we have lots of filks about that. If that's what the muse dictates, though, go for it.
3. Post your filk here in this thread for us to enjoy and comment on.
4. If so inclined, share a recording of yourself singing a filk or two.
5. When all's said, sung, and done, Neshomeh will add this year's entries to the PPC Holiday Songbook unless you specify otherwise.

Which is why I said I was cheating. It's referenced in "Fairytale Of New York", but it's not actually a carol, just an old Irish song. I reworked it to be about an Agent who's actually from New Caledonia.
There's surprisingly few of them, considering. =]

Yeah... apparently harps sound pretty bad when recorded by a camera.
