"For the last time, Mom, she's NOT an alien."

"But... She's... She's a..."

"A beautiful, wonderful woman who has saved my life, kept me sane and been a very good friend."

Valon was doing his level best to calm down his mother. Unfortunately, Joan Vance was rather shocked discover that her son's new fiancée was a seven-foot scorpion.

"Valon proposed to ME. I said yes. Mrs. Vance, I promise that I'll take good care of him. I've been doing that for almost a year now."

"But..." Joan, a plump and jolly-looking redhead almost as short as Kala, looked at her son in concern. "I'm sorry, this is just a lot to take in... It's really sudden..."

"Mom." Valon wrapped his arms around his mother. "I'm a PPC agent. Don't question things. Kala is the best person I've met there, and she's saved my life on more than one occasion. I might be a scatterbrained airhead, but you should know by know that I don't screw up when it comes to friends."

"Right... You don't." She looked nervously at the girtablilu... Before grinning in a way that only she and Valon could. "I'm guessing that you wanted me to make the cake?"

"... You must be psychic."

Chakkik eyed the card with curiosity. He could not for the life of him understand why he was being invited to this event. It was almost as difficult for him to comprehend as the event itself.

Well... Perhaps I should dispose of this before...

"OMYGOD CHAK IS THAT A WEDDING INVITATION!?"

"Sigh..." Of course, his partner would instantly zero in on it. "Yes, Stephanie, although I fail to understand why I received it. I think that..."

"Who's getting married?"

"... Valon Vance and Kala Jeng, of the Department of Floaters. I have worked with them before. Regardless, I..."

"When is it?" Stephanie looked more eager with every question.

"December the tenth, but..."

"Is there gonna be cake?"

"I imagine so, DO NOT INTERRUPT." Chakkik's bark made the kraken jump. "I planned on simply discarding this message and pretending I never received it..."

Stephanie wilted a bit. "Oh... Okay then..."

"However. It seems that you would not miss this event for the world, and I am not so cruel as to trample your hopes into the earth." Chakkik sighed. "I suppose that we can attend, even if only for a mo—"

The disguised Mantis Ant was muffled by Stephanie's embrace. "THANK YOU! THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU! Oh! I know! We can invite Cupid, and Lapis..."

"Now, I do not think you should be too hasty..." Lapis he could tolerate, but Stephanie's boyfriend was prone to irritating him, particularly when drunk.

"... and Natalie, and Za'kiir..."

"Those two would ruin the occasion if I am to attend." Chakkik's memory of his duel with the Khajiit was hardly pleasant. Neither had won that bout, but the event had stung the Mantis Ant's pride.

"... and Gabby!"

"GODS, NO!"

Anyway... on wedding roles.

The maid of honor, flower girl, and ring bearer have all been chosen. However, I still need a best man, an officiant, and probably some other things.

No, I'm not gonna tell you who they are. That's spoil the fun, wouldn't it?
