Guys, I have never been so proud in my entire twenty-one-year-long life.

Some of you may remember, during a thread about Asperger's, me mentioning my little sister diagnosed with a really severe case of said syndrome. Long story short, she can't be left unattended and never will be able to function without someone watching over her.

Well, today she had her Confirmation ceremony. It may seem ironic that someone like me, a Catholic just in name, to whom religion is something personal and not ceremonial and public (I also don't have one set name for the Higher Power I believe in; call it God the Father, Allah, Mother Nature - it doesn't matter to me, as long as it's a non-violent faith) but I was really glad to see her be so calm, more than she's ever been, especially with such a large crowd present.

She generally is very distant towards others, sometimes even to us, and used to have outbreaks of panic and fear when going outdoors. But seeing her there made me so happy, my heart literally turned to melted wax. The funniest thing was when everyone was praying and she was the only one to repeat everything the bishop was saying - we'd later joke that she was his prompter ;D... but today I finally was able to see the progress she's made, from a complete mute who couldn't understand the world around her, to a girl able to somehow express her needs and feelings. It was simply beautiful

I'm sorry if this seems like something boring to you guys. I just felt like sharing a very happy moment with the community who did so much to me these past months. You guys are the best things that ever happened to me...

Okay, I'm getting too emotional. I'll stop now.
