I guess this is an......an introduction of some sorts?
Yep. I am a random silverfish who had sneaked into this place, slowly, slowly......
Personally, I was attracted to the PPC Wiki due to the fact that I was severely traumatized by badfics before, but that is a story for another d......dammit.
I am a fan fiction writer myself, though I had never written one in English before as my native language is Chinese.
And there were tons of badfics, Bleepfics, even Lengendary Badfics in many of the online Chinese forums. With no warnings in the titles and summaries.
And as an innocent noob who happened to take her first step into the chaotic and mysterious world of fandoms a few years ago, I decided to read up a few fanfictions.
And got brutally mind-raped by them.
And I decided to read more to search for some good ones.
And finally ended up being traumatized to the point of having phobia of almost all sexual scenes, even in goodfics. Unless it was written in a believable, subtle and skilful manner......
A masochist? Probably.
So,I do hate badfics, and there were people bashing Mary Sues and Bad Slash in the Chinese fandom, but it was usually just torturing a weakened!Sues to the point that the abusers themselves became Mary Sues, and they insulted the author a lot.
There was goodfics about Mary Sues, done in a humorous manner just to tease them, and only focus on the Sues, not the authors.
However, the anti-sue community overall just don't suit me, so I left and started searching for more disciplined and smaller fandoms with better quality.
That was how I got into the Happy Tree Friends, SCP Foundation(My favourite one so far), and Fallout fandoms. HTF is not a small fandom, and there are still badfics in it, but the goodfics in it are awesome.
Finally, in that one fateful day, I found the PPC Wiki through a random search for fan fiction tutorial. A quiet, almost unnoticed, yet great place.
After silently read through the pages on Wiki for about three months, I am ready to be part of the community.
That was all I had to say. My grammar and spelling are pretty bad, and one of the reasons I came here is to improve my English writing skill, so correct me if I made any mistakes in my naggings. I expected a lot of them.
Welcome to our humble organisation! *hands you several bars of Bleepolate* I'd also go for a hug, but I feel that might be a tad too personal considering we've just met, so I think I'll just settle for a handshake. And possibly a few pats on the head...
Ahem. Anyway. I'm a bit of a newbie myself (though, like you, I was lurking around the PPC Wiki for quite a bit before officially joining the board), and so I'd be glad to help you out around here with anything, should you need it. I also happen to be Chinese as well (although I've spent the vast majority of my life in Singapore), and so please feel free to talk to me in Chinese instead of English sometimes if it makes you more comfortable. :-) Fair warning though, my language skills are a wee bit rusty in some areas, so I might have to ask for clarification sometimes.
Once again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy being on the Board!

I am currently studying in Singapore, though I was born in China.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's bad form to use other languages on the Board. After all, people sometimes think that they're being ridiculed, and speaking in another language is their way to hide it.
I know my way around Romantic and Germanic languages and can usually work out the gist of what's going on, but if it doesn't use the Latin alphabet? I'm at a loss.
I've seen people go off on tangents in other languages plenty of times; there's nothing wrong with it. If it bugs you, try Google Translate.
Also, methinks it's a bit rude to refer to an extremely widely used modern language like Chinese as "speaking in runes," as though it were something obscure and somehow uncouth. {= /

Have a shovel that digs up zombies!
Your English is actually pretty good. Well done!
Welcome to the board and here is a smood gred light pen.
Hope you'll enjoy it here, and that you're here for a long time. Please have a pot of black-hole coffee.
In all seriousness, though, I used to like HTF back in the day... Shame they haven't made new episodes lately, though.
Nice to see an Asian joining the Board for the first time in a while - I'm pretty sure I'm one of the few others, so the more the merrier I guess.
So, well, enjoy your time here! Please accept the offering of one of my own shed feathers along with a complimentary kit of Spikes!
I am only interested in some of the Legendary Goodfics in the community. My days as a fanbrat seeking for gory violence and Bad Slash are over.
Yep, diversity is good. Thanks for the gift!
Here's a pack of notecards and some extra-buttery popcorn! :D
Have a Bag of Holding so that you have somewhere to conviniently store the truckload of gifts you are receiving and a Rorschach Book, which can change into any written text in existence. To use it, you need to close your while holding it, think about the text you wanna read and then blink three times.
Here's your starter Pokémon:-
Iiiiiiit's Ralts!
And your starting item is:-
White Undershirt (M) from Maplestory Risk Of Rain!
(yeah that item's a reference)
This item... is okay. It ups your Defence and Special Defence by 25% each, but because there are better wall items out there (especially Eviolite in this case) it doesn't tend to see a lot of competitive use, because sweepers generally prefer the bonus OHKOing capacity from a damage item. Ralts, however... okay, I love Ralts, I think it's adorable and has the cutest lil pudding-basin haircut in history, but Ralts is garbage competitively. Its stats are godawful. Don't use Ralts. Evolve it and give your item to Gardevoir or Gallade, because both of them can benefit from it. =]
is it edible? is it tasty?
is it edible? is it tasty?
Welcome!
I hope you have fun here. I've been having fun so far. Your English is really good. Are you self taught or taking lessons?
Is it? I actually made lot of grammar and spelling mistakes during class.....
The school I'm currently studying in taught all lessons in English, and my peers' first languages are also English. I guess that kind of explained it?
I can understand you better than some Native English speakers.
Can I ask what kind of Chinese you speak? Is it Mandarin or a different variety?
Thank you!
It is quite common for people to be careless when they are writing in their native languages. I have seen a lot of such mistakes in fanfictions posted on my local online communities, and my reaction is usually like that:
"Seriously! You speak it daily, your schools teach them as a subject, you take reading and writing lessons for this language, and why can't you just use it correctly?"
I am kind of a language neat freak who cannot tolerate spelling errors and grammar mistakes, both in my own writings and other narrative works.
*Serious facial expression*
Hey there! Glad to see some new blood! Umm... figuratively speaking, of course... hehe, yeah...
Anywho, here - have a slice of Infinite Pizza!
Sorry to say that, but infinite pizza box is better. Perhaps.....
Just Joking! It is a Very Bad Idea to steal SCP-458.
Welcome to this place, sanity optional.
*peers* I think you're the first Chinese to land here since Crimson Flight, and he's not been around for quite a bit of time.
What is your preferred pronoun?
Last but not least, a gift! Have this cup of Lapsang Souchong. Just remember to treat it gently — it's not quite sure whether it smells like a campfire or not.
I think Ryin should be fine.
Wow, had he left any missions behind? I would like to take a look.
Thank you!*carefully take the cup*
But according to the wiki, his agents made an appearance in part two of The Most Stab-Inducing Love. Also, looks like I was a tad off-mark — his Wiki page says he lives in Melbourne, Australia, so I would hazard a guess and say he's an expat of some sort.
Hello, and welcome aBoard! For your newbie gift, take this plate of freshly-made SPaGhetti!
If you haven't yet read them, may I point you towards the Original Series and the Constitution? They're pretty much the only required reading around these parts.
Glad to hear you've already been reading the Wiki! If you have any questions, check there before asking. We like it when people to the research. :)
I would like to point out that we try to keep the Board family-friendly, so please watch the swearing (though if you must, label a post NSFW).
Anyway, hope you like it here! :D
I forgot to mention that I had read the Constitution, and was currently reading the Original Series. It will take a long time to finish......
Sorry for the swearing. I believe it is the one in the third sentence, and I had to admit that I had never treated it as a swearing word before.
*Taking down notes* Have to watch out for them swearing words next time.
