She made the suit using pepakura. Basically, she printed out the pattern she needed on cardstock, used an exacto knife to cut it out, then dabbed superglue on with toothpicks to piece it all together. Then it was covered with resin, fiberglass, and bondo and left to harden. After that, she sanded it to its final shape and painted it. The whole thing's held together with rare Earth magnets and straps superglued on the inside.
As for electronics, the suit's chest and eyes light up. When she bends her wrists up (like she's going to shoot someone with a repulser beam), the palms also light up and it makes a sound like a missile firing. The helmet can open and close on voice command, and the eyes shut off when it's opened.
She was so determined on wiring the suit herself that she actually took programming classes at the local college. And then she liked the class so much she went back for a second degree, but that's another story
