Hello! I'm Basil, a friend of Alleb's. You may have seen Alleb mention me in the PPC Masquerade post. I'm new here, and I'll hopefully be able to post at more than just the Masquerade, because I really like the PPC already!
Along with one of my own shed feathers and a complimentary kit of Spikes, have a replica Golden Snitch and a magic ring that totally doesn't make you invisible!
The lair in which you will see a lot of stuff that will make your head hurt. Enjoy your stay!
Glad ter see ya!
Have an urple ocarina from me! Kills with a single note; great party trick!
-Alleb
Welcome aBoard! Have these Bleepolate-coated Bloffee beans. For when you want to stay up all night and forget why!
... Yeah, I should probably get a better marketing plan.
I can't give my usual newbie gift because my phone is a derp. As soon as I sort it out, though, you'll get it. =]
Enjoy the RP! I know I am. =]
Have your starter Pokémon!
Iiiiiiit's Noibat!
And your starting item is:
Succubus from The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth!
(yeah there isn't a picture on the wiki yet sorry)
Succubus is a pretty interesting item - it has a 50% chance to hit your opponent with a 60BP Dark-type Special attack every turn - and Noibat can make pretty decent use of it in Little Cup. However, it's debatable as to whether or not it's worth losing the boost from a Life Orb, especially since you need to make sure you're killing Steel-types with Heat Wave.
This shovel digs up hearts and Rupees!
... I've been playing a lot of Link's Awakening.
Welcome to the madhouse! I'm Dorano, also relatively new. Have some Bloffee - you'll need it soon enough, I'm sure.
Here, have this cup of Lapsang Souchong tea. It's not quite certain — yet, anyway — if it smells like a campfire or like something else, so treat it gently, aright?
Here's a bag of mini Kit Kat bars!
Hello, and welcome aBoard! For your newbie gift, take this plate of freshly-made SPaGhetti!
Since Hadric covered the usual questions, I'll just leave you with a 'hope you like it here!' and a 'Happy Halloween!'
*twitch* Ooh, SPaGhetti! *pokes it* Do the special capitals mean I can't eat it?
SPaG stands for Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar, so if you eat this special spaghetti, your SPaG will temporarily become perfect! ;)
So you'll always look awesome! :) Welcome aboard!
Ooooh. Thank you! Sometimes it's hard to look awesome. I will save it especially for bad hair days.
Welcome aboard, please take this weaponized Puzzle, multiple ways to solve, multiple ways to slaughter.
A way to stay entertained and safe!
...will not be held responsible for world annihilation
Since Hardric already covered the usual questions, I will just give you your newbie gifts: A Bag of Holding, for the truckload of gifts you are about to get and a Rorschach Book, which can change into any written text in existence. Just close your eyes while holding it , think about what you wanna read and then blink three times.
Thank you! I love the Book, and the Bag will be very useful! People sure are generous around here.
Yeah, people around here are really nice and very welcoming. Oh, and since you like HP, have your very own Muggle-Use Wand!
Have this pot of my special brand of black coffee. Oh, the lights? That's a normal reaction.
Did you read the Original Series, the Constitution?
Do you know about the Wiki?
What are your favorite spinoffs and fandoms?
Thank you! I have read the OS and the Constitution (I was terrified I'd mess something up or step on someone if I didn't), and I have wandered the trails of the Wiki. If you have any helpful tips/mistakes not to make that aren't already there, I'd be most grateful.
I'm currently in the thick of the Wheel of Time series (I'm on book 6) so that's my newest one and my go-to right now. My oldest favorite is Star Wars, and one of my fanfic characters from my earliest stuff lives on to this day. I also love the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Right now a lot more of my writing is original stuff, though- it's been a while since I've fanfic'ed a good fanfic.
Oh, another fan of Wheel of Time. Keep it up, this series is long, but totally worth it. Once you get to the ending you should also give a look to Sanderson's books, they picked him up for finishing this series for a reason.
Well, the Wiki should cover the bases, don't be so afraid of messing up though, I mean, this will happen someday, nobody is perfect, but the important thing is knowing how to move on after this.
But what about the PPC stories, did you saw Iximaz's rec list? it's a great debut if you're searching for new spinoffs.
I've read the Mistborn series and Elantris, and I am anxiously awaiting the completion of the next Mistborn trilogy.
Yes, WoT gets very cumbersome to read sometimes. I like it though, and I really want to finish.
I have not seen this list, I'll check it out!
If you're searching for new authors for fantasy, I also recommend Jim Butcher, who already has three different series for three genres:
- About fantasy, Codex Alera. Somebody betted that Butcher couldn't create a good series using Lost Roman Legion and Pokemon as bases. This someone lost very bad.
- For steampunk, his newest series, Cinder Spires, a post-apocalyptic world of towering spires, crystal technology and sentients cats, reminding us they are the finest creation of evolution.
-Finally, the jewel of the crown, his urban fantasy series the Dresden Files. Pure awesome, snark and drama, and this series will reconcile everyone with first-person prose.
Welcome, welcome, welcome~! Have a slice of Infinite Pizza! :D
