With all the nasty things you hear about Sharia Law, it's nice to see that one Middle Eastern country has other ideas of punishment.
Iran: Criminals sentenced to buy books
A judge in Iran has started sentencing criminals to buy and read books instead of handing down prison terms, it's been reported. -

The Iran I have come o know and despise still has four American citizens locked up for no other reason than that they are not Muslims/are Americans. They stone people to death for "sexual impurity." They fund Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Assad regime, for crying out loud!
It tickles me to see this, though. Obviously, it's only one judge who's doing this, and I doubt that anything significant is going to come of this, but it's refreshing.
Thank you for showing me this. It brightened what's left of my day, a little. -

"Funds terrorists".
Shocking. Truly.
It's still a country with a mostly functioning government and infrastructure.
It's not a government we- here I am speaking about the United States as a government and our current policies- like, but it is a complex country, with its own people whom have their own views and ideas.
The point of this post had nothing to do with imprisoned Americans.
-July, who is wondering why she's the one defending the Iranians? What even indeed. -
