((It's just how that prompt is phrased in Whose Line. See!))
Yes indeed, the game where the rules are made up, and the points don't matter. Yes, like World-Jumper's writing schedule, they just don't matter. I'm your host, The Host! How convenient for me. Since the last thread, we tried to get Drew Cary on board, but he said, and I quote, "Oh god no, please, anything but that, don't make me go back there." So, you lot are stuck with me again.
We are playing the PPC Board version of Whose Line? once again, where you, yes, you, the boarders, get to have some fun with some improv and mini-roleplay. Will we play any games other then Scenes from a Hat? Probably not! But, who knows with this game. Anything can happen.
To start off, we will need some suggestions for our first game Scenes from a Hat. Here is how it will work:
The first reply to this post will be by The Hat, saying, "Place Suggestions Here!" You are to reply with your scenario for us to react to under the name "Suggestion". Quotation marks are optional. For the title box, put "Official Unofficial Suggestion". Then, to make sure nobody reads the scenario before I choose it for the game, you are to post the following, exactly, into the text box before your suggestion:
A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK A POX ON THOSE WHO PEEK
Then, post your scenario suggestion. These can be PPC related, Real Life, fandom, whatever you want. I would highly suggest that everybody read This Guide from /r/ScenesFromAHat before writing your prompts.
The prompts will be picked at random by me for getting posted for you all to react to, in any way you wish. Whomever has the cleverest response will receive the points for the round. If your suggestion or quip is not selected, don't take it to heart. All it means is that I probably don't like you very much.
Those are the rules, tried and true. Should we need to update the rules, I'll post an update, and curse the fact that the Board has no edit button.
Let's play!
Now, just because the next prompt is drawn, does not mean you cannot reply to any of the previous prompts. Indeed, you are highly encouraged to!
The sappiest and angstiest Sue's terrible past the PPC has ever encountered.
"I never fit in with the other kids at school, I was such a nerd. But then one day, I fell through a hole in reality and found a secret organization, where I went on to become one of the most well-known agents within the span of a year and a half. It was during this time that I got turned into a Time Lord, and went crazy, finally snapping after the tragic death of my partner. I stole a TARDIS and ran away, only to find myself caught up in a time loop involving one of my best friends, on a planet people aren't supposed to be able to get to, and went on to illegally enlist in the military despite being much too young by my current species' standards. I had to watch as all my crew members were tragically killed—WHAT DO YOU MEAN, MY GLITTER LEVEL'S AT 20%?!"
and all the other girls in the orphanage hated her for some reason. Probably the glowy white hair. Or the soulful orange eyes. Or the dog that followed her around.
Then when she was seventeen, the matron finally kicked her and her dog out, and she tried to get work as a singer but wasn't old enough to work in a club...and she found the girl who'd hated her the least again but she was on the other side of the planet...and then her dog got hit by a semi...
Why do the worst ones almost always have 'orphanage of hell' in their backstory? Seriously, why!?
I can see why if that was what you meant. 'It's a hard-knock life' and all that.
Most writers still have to figure it out that you don't have to make your orphanage absolute angsty and horrid to generate drama in a story involving an orphan.
Selkie is a webcomic about interspecies adoption and largely involves an orphanage. It may not accurate be on some aspects (that whole adoption line-up thing, for example), but it is a mostly happy and safe environment and the drama mostly comes from other sources.
Or if they absolutely need to go for the 'Bully at the orphanage' angle, there are better ways to go about it than shamelessly trying to rip our heartstrings.
Let's analyze the case of Hanako from Katawa Shoujo for a good example.
(Spoilers for Hanako's Route)
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Hanako's house caught fire when she was eight. Both of her parents died, and her mother did so while shielding her from the flames with her own body. Despite that, 50%
of her body suffered severe burns.
After she was released from the hospital, she ended up in a orphanage. The place itself wasn't bad and the staff was really nice, but as result of her scars and the trauma she suffered, the other kids there isolated her.
When she went back to school, her former friends also largely ostracized her.
In the present, she is a girl with crippling social anxiety that up until now has only ever had one friend at Yamaku.
Now that backstory is pretty terrifying and could easily make for some very cheap drama, so why is she a good example?
Precisely because the whole point of her story is that you shouldn't pity her and treat her like some broken and weak girl that always needs to be protected. If you do, if you keep acting like a White Knight despite subtle warning against, it will blow up in your face and she WILL despise you for it.
"I think I just broke a nail!"
"Should we add four, or five new traps to the castle?"
Shout out to JoCo's Creepy Doll!
"Check it out! I made a sweater for the Daisy!" (The actual Daisy, not the Marquis. You could not pay me enough to make so much as a bowtie for the Marquis.)
((It's just how that prompt is phrased in Whose Line. See!))
"A bag of mulch! You looked like you were hungry!"
((Keep those suggestions coming! The more, the merrier!))
Yes, I know the joke's been done. No, I don't care or regret this decision.

Now they don't NEED to exist, but they do anyway! :D
I admit, I don't really know anime. I remember this one as being, "the Magical Girl anime that trolled Japan by not being a Magical Girl anime." But short of that... Eh... Sorry.
So, tell me, and feel free to spoil everything, why do you all love this show so much?
*chewing* Hope they're nice.
*holds out a bag* Want some sunflower seeds?
"I don't think that was a replacement we killed..."

((Don't worry Pippa, you're fine. Make more quips if you want. Speaking of which.))
((In their haste to get the game started, The Host forgot to explain that one can, and should, continue making suggestions and quips at any point in the game. If we want this game to last, we need as many suggestions as possible. And don't worry, the points don't matter! So The Host can award them to anyone at any time, even for threads they already gifted points to.))

The Marquis de Sod's wedding.
You actually did make yourself anonymous, as I wished so there is no view of bias, and you used my copy-pasta. However, you did not reply to The Hat with the suggestion! So, for actually cloaking yourself, 500 points. For not putting the scene in the Hat, however, I deduce 500 points.
