The pressed flower could be considered offensive, though.

This A:TLA and Sherlock crossover has recently been brought to my attention. The reporter on Consulting Sue Slayer said Sherlock could be a replacement Sue. I'm inclined to lean towards the positive on that one, but I'd like a second opinion from someone who knows the A:TLA fandom better.
Any thoughts?
Well, "found" isn't the right word. This morning, I got a notice in my inbox that one of my old fics had been added to somebody's favorites, so I went to scope them out. In their Favorite Stories, there are 1000+ Potterfics that all seem to be about Snape and original characters. I warn you, it's slightly mind-boggling to look at so many in one place. O.o
I have no idea what kind of quality we're really looking at here, since I haven't had the courage to click on anything. The summaries do seem to be relatively well written at a glance, though. I guess it's possible that there are that many decent Snape fics with OCs in the world, but knowing the quality of mine, I'd guess mediocre at best. Plus, I've just spotted one where the OC is a werecat ("Teacher's Pet" by MissBlackthorne). That can't be good...
On a personal note: I've been collected. That's so weird. O.o
(Sadly, I've only seen the first season of Avatar, and from the other comments, it seems like both seasons are involved.)

Don't you just hate to see you've been favorited by someone who might write badfic? :(
Is Rose just a popular Sue name or have we found another Rose Potter?
Okay, so it's not as bad as the crazy druidess Rose Potter but wow what is she doing to Snape just stop and did Piers Polkiss just rape her I really don't know what to say seriously
Your punctuation is slipping.
Anyway, is this going to be another mass extermination like that Mulan/Pirates of the Caribbean/etc. fiasco? I will happily volunteer all of my agents if that's the case.
Yeah, raiding collections can be challenging. Oh internet, where every day is serendipity day. :0

Considering that there's been so much damage done to the setting of this - not really the characters, aside from Korra having way too short a lifespan (Avatars usually last centuries, and Aang died young because he spent that century in an iceberg), and Sokka (a nonbender) having strong bender offspring (How is John Watson Sokka's descendant? They look nothing alike, and - ugh, nevermind.) This is the equivalent of saying Lord of the Rings happened in World One, all the elves and hobbits and not-humans died off except for a few, and everyone else was mindwiped into believing it's actually the Dark Ages.
And woooooow that's a lot of Potterfics.
LotR was set in England way way back; the framing device is that it is the Red Book of Westermarch discovered by a guy named Aelfwine. In fact, Luthien, or Luthany, was Tolkien's original name for England.
The better one would be along the lines of Discworld being set on World One.
Blame my faulty knowldge of LotR. The Discworld comparison is more apt, and the fic is still very wrong.
You didn't sound rude. Also, that pic :)
Isn't LOTR set waaay in Earth's past?
Yeah... also, the tone is so chipper for Sherlock that I'm leaning towards both him and John having been shoved in a plothole somewhere. Poor John, I can just imagine...
"Isn't it obvious from the lack of logic? We're in a fanfic."
Well, no. There is no way that the ATLA verse can be World One - the most obvious part being that the landmasses are completely different. Then, you have the fact that the Industrial Revolution in Korra was fueled by bending and the Fire Nation (the most machine and engineering focused nation) suddenly being able to share its knowledge with the world. The most basic history aspects are too different to reconcile with the 'real' world, especially since Amon's anti-bending technique was reversable by the end of the first season of Korra, and never went beyond one city! Plus, the entire ecosystem is different (ordinary animals like bears are considered extremely exotic.) And no memory-modification technique, to my knowledge, exists in Avatar except for the Dai Li stuff, which would be impractical on a large scale.
And I'm pretty sure that John would have found out if he could bend. It's normally something that is quite obvious, given that your element will react to your emotions - Katara was able to break open an iceberg while untrained because she was ticked off, there's no way John wouldn't have found out before then. Also, him being Sokka's descendant makes no sense when SOKKA COULDN'T BEND. And boomerang fell into the freaking ocean. How did it come back?
So yeah. This fic is incompatible with most worldbuilding parts of ATLA and Korra.
