Today, on the last day before they go on break over summer, the German Bundestag (our lower house of parliament) voted on a bill that would legalize same-sex-marriage.
IT PASSED! Finally, after the CDU delayed the vote for 4+ years, it has passed 393-226. The bill still has to go through the Bundesrat, which is expected to happen, on 7th July. When I found out this morning, I actually almost cried with happiness. I still cannot actually believe this has finaly happened.

I am not going to deny that we do have problems with racism, and that right-wing politicians and parties have surged; however, as far as I'm aware, this increase in their popularity has been relatively minor compared to other western countries, such as the US, Great Britain, or Austria.
