It appears autocorrect stabbed me in the back. That should read "I'll let".

Lest people think I am a troll, or heaven forbid Toroll, I would like to present myself as one who is, as they say, a long time lurker/first time poster (or only recent at least).
I suppose the sarcasm present in my first post was poorly conceived considering recent circumstances. I apologize for that, but I do think that this form of moderation is unsustainable considering the size of this community, as proven by the amount of havoc that two (?) dedicated trolls can cause while the admin is away.
Maybe we got off to a bad start. Whatever, I'm not going to judge you this early.
So, welcome to the PPC, have a cup of Earl Grey as your welcome gift. So since you haven't mentioned it, what are your pronouns?
My appologies for taking so long to respond, I was without my phone for several days. My preferred pronouns are he/him/etc.
And the reason I don't buy it is because you're not stupid. You knew exactly how your post would be taken and you are now showing up - with the moniker Orwell, seriously, subtlety is a dying art - to complain about the fact that we don't have an active and empowered moderator class.
It is my personal belief that if we did so, you'd be long gone.
I don't buy what you're selling, and I've seen enough mock-contrition in my life to know it when it posts in the one community left that doesn't let me let it down. You have nothing positive to add and are merely trying to stir the pot for the sake of it. To reiterate Ix's point:-
DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS.
Why does everyone continue to assume Orwell is a moniker, despite me repeatedly saying otherwise? My first name literally is Orwell. My mother was a fan of George Orwell, but felt that George was too common of a name. I will happily give out my full name if it will put you at ease.
Then why are you so invested in how it's being run? Even if you have been a lurker for quite a while, you haven't actually taken part in it before. For someone who is unaffected by the moderation here, you seem very interested in it.
More to the point, what else interests you about the community? What kind of fandoms do you like? Is there anything that brings you here other than the current drama?
Despite the name, I am not actually an Orwell fan. As I said before, Orwell is my name, and I see no reason not to use it.
Things I do enjoy: Final Fantasy, Warhammmer 40k, Dungeons and Dragons, Six of Crows, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and Deep Space 9, among other things.
I find the sue slaying in mildly poor taste, I must admit, but I rather enjoy the bad slash works, especially the works of Poor Cynic and Trojanhorse.
I would like to remind people that pretending to engage in reasonable debate while riling everybody up is still a form of trolling, and Orwell has shown themselves to be less than trustworthy.
I'm personally not opposed to actual moderation.
I also think we're doing fine without it.
I also think the people with the keys to the Board are fine, trustworthy people who had proved as much over many years of membership before the idea of the Nameless Admin was conceived, and have never done anything to abuse that power since.
It just doesn't seem worth the drama to me.
That said, if members of the Board who have participated under this system have actual grievances with it that they'd like to discuss, they should absolutely bring them up, but popping up out of lurkerdom just to complain at us doesn't seem in particularly good faith to me.

Which is lovely, it is. I love being helped out, personally. Lovely stuff. Always nice. Once somebody held the door open for me, and, let me tell you, I was more flattered than a pancake in an anvil-dropping factory.
But, really, even assuming you've got completely benevolent intentions, is this honestly the best way to go around with it?
Because, at least from my perspective, you're a total stranger, jumping in after a troll's hijinks (said troll quite fond of impersonating people,) posting an incredibly Toroll-esque (no offence, of course, but it was the sort of thing within the fellow's utility Toroll-belt) first post, and then suggesting a pretty decently large revamp of a system we've been (I assume, anyway) fine with for a while.
Now, I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong, or that your ideas are irrelevant and ought to get scrunched up and popped in the bin, but do you get where I'm coming from? Because, even the last one, on it's own, would be a bit weird, y'know?
You're not selling yourself very well, is what I'm saying.
Anyways, I hope you're not one've those trolls. It'd shake things up, anyway.
And, er. Welcome, I suppose!
And by some I mean at least two, though I doubt we're the only ones.
Who were you talking to, and what name were you using?
Also: you may note that the 'havoc' lasted less than ten hours. Hardly the crisis point you seem to be making it out to be.

I, obviously, am Orwell. I'Lloyd let your other member identify themselves or not as they see fit. After all, anonymous authority may be the basis of a dictatorship (benevolent though it may be), but anonymous complaints should be the right of all citizens in a free society.
As for the havoc, certainly this instance was shortlived, but can you honestly say Data Junkie and Toroll haven't been dragging their feud through the board for far too long, with little repercussions on half of the parties involved? And if you had a more sustainable model, you could have prevented Toroll entirely.
... a member of the PPC community who has been repeatedly harassed by a self-confessed troll, of being complicit in said troll's actions. This is pure victim-blaming; regardless of my personal feelings about Data Junkie, I have never known them to encourage the Tor-using troll in their actions.
On the basis of their six posts so far (three in this thread, three in the thread directly below it), I strongly feel that 'Orwell' is posting for no purpose other than to disrupt the PPC community. I don't know whether they're telling the truth about being a new poster, and frankly I don't care.

Toroll never showed up until Data was being threatened with a ban, caused enough confusion to buy them time to figure out how to wiggle out the ban, and only bothered the people Data didn't like until Data came back. (Half the time of what was proposed as a temp ban, too.)
After that, they mostly existed as a foil for Data, posting things for them to respond to, and rarely actually harassing them. I am not saying Data is Toroll, but at the least I would assume this is an act put on whenever Data gets bored, with the aid of some ally. In the tumblr VM linked, they almost said as much.
Data's gone, Toroll's posts are whacked every time he pokes his head aboveground and you're just kicking a dead horse. Also the Nameless Admin system works pretty well, so I don't see a reason to change it.
Surely you have better things to do with your time?
