I'm giving it a miss this year; I try to stick to one year in two, so I don't end up burning myself out too often. I will be using NaNoEdMo in March to try and revise last year's NaNo.
For the hopefully-small number of people who don't know what I'm on about: NaNoWriMo is where you write a 50,000-word novel in November. That's it. 1,667 words per day (or, more likely, 250 words per day for a week and then 8000 in one massive binge to try and catch up...), with no editing or revision - there's no time for that! It's heaps of fun, and great for those 'I always wanted to write this story but never got round to it' types.

I'm doing it, although I'd prefer not to share details in public because to do so would be mixing anonymity modes.
I find that usually the hard part isn't generating the words, the part I find the most difficult part is actually paring them down after I'm through and remaining on course without going all over the place. NaNoWriMo usually gives me a good excuse to just toss that out the window and just go completely hog wild on everything. Usually the editing is where I have the most fun, but I've taken to viewing NaNoWriMo as the time where you find the pieces that you'll be writing, and editing the next month as a matter of when I get to actually put them together. A lot of parts naturally won't get used, but I view that as being perfectly fine, since just because some of my ideas won't get used this time around, it won't mean I won't get to use them in the future.
My first drafts will always be a little disjointed but that's to be expected. I'm looking forward to it.

Rather than doing NaNo proper, I'm dedicating this month to sewing things. Gonna do a weighted blanket and first drafts for a costume for cons next year.
... 600,000 words a year? That means you're topping a million every two years!
Or did you mean that you don't hit the target each month...? ^_~

Last time I attempted it was back in 2012/2013 I think. Going to be writing the latest revision of the story that originally created Apollo (who unfortunately doesn't have a major part in this one).

I've had an idea floating around since 2015 but I've never attempted a NaNo before.
I'm going to hate myself if I don't get it finished. >.>
I didn't mean to make it such a lovely number, it just happened like that.
I discovered that the narrator yelling at the characters is an excellent way to pad things out.
Let's see if I can make lots of progress this weekend.
Writing that much in that short a time is hard. You run out of ideas. Life gets in the way. Your story comes to a perfect ending at 43K. You forget to hit save and end up abandoning it for a week in a sulk. All sorts of things can happen.
And what you do then is file it away - and resolve to do better the next year. ^_^

If I set a goal for myself and then don't meet it, I get mopey.

I'm already at 2k words, but there's no way I'll be able to keep this up for the whole month.
Back in '11, I nearly fused my synapses getting the entire 50K done in two weeks before a holiday, just to make sure I finished. On the flip side, my '14 NaNo started late, and has a week-long plateau in the middle where I couldn't face it any longer.
Just remember: 1667 words is only one word at a time...

This sounds like a good kick-start opportunity. My ultimate, perfect, innovating urban fantasy of perfection ideas may finally take a solid form.

I'll be writing in Malay though. When you first learn a hard task, use the tools you wield the best.
Hoping to get to a write-in tonight, too (my first ever! Somehow I've never gotten to them before). Should be fun.
