You right click on the page you want to copy text from, and select "View Page Source". That opens up a confusing jumble of text and code; you'll probably want to Control+F to find what you're looking for. You'll have to format the text properly because copy-pasting looks like someone code-vomited on the page.
But hey presto, you're good to go.
If you send a badfic or badfic chapter to Notability, you can copy and paste text from the note.
sorry forgot to mention it.
I'm still flailing about getting the text out of the Quotev stories I have claimed.
I'm not much good with electronics, though. Am I reading this wrong, or is Notability only available on Apple products?

It sounds like a chore having to reformat so much, but I guess it wouldn't be so bad for stories that don't require a lot of direct quotes . . .

If you copy the encoded story text into Notepad (or something similar) and save as a .html file, then open it in your browser, you can yoink the formatted text from there into your regular word processor. Or just leave it in Notepad and read in your browser.
If there are images you might want to comment on, either linked to or embedded, make sure to save those. They have a tendency to vanish. A broken link in place of actual description also warrants commentary in a sporking, but my slow pace of writing means I've lost way too much funny material this way.

Polyvore, that site where so many Suethors liked to save outfits their characters were wearing, got shut down a few months ago and now I can't laugh at all the characters wearing crop tops in Hogwarts. >:(
Well, I'm sure something similar will crop up. Or they'll just use Imgur or something instead.
