A truly sad day, CT's legacy is arguably up there with JRRT himself at least in terms of the sheer editorial work of preparing works for publication over more than 40 years. It's sad knowing that we will get no more works (unless someone else takes over) and that one of the last living links to JRRT is now gone.

He was a worthy guardian of Middle-earth, and will be sorely missed. I am so pleased, though, that he managed to publish all three of the Great Tales under their own covers before he passed into the West - you could tell it was a labour of love, and a fitting conclusion to a lifetime of scholarship.
