But which, in this season of pandemic-induced nostalgia, is just as appropriate today:
Back in October, the original PPC Board finally shuttered. We all moved here to the New Board, and it's worked out pretty well so far. But, admit it: sometimes you still miss the original.
Well, you can have it back, in a way at least. I snagged a copy of the very last moments of the Board, and have fixed it up so that the links (almost) all work. Posts are linked to the New Board (with one exception), but other than that... here it is. 199610s and all.
Happy Easter.

(As an amusing aside: there's another community even more attached to their Board than we were! They acquired the domain name so they could keep their URL! Technical Team, you missed a trick!)

... You know what might be cool? If the Next Page button linked to the appropriate spot in the rendered archive.
I'm not sure why that and the Search button are freaking out, since it seems like they simply link to their equivalent here, but can confirm that they are.
Even so, it's a very nice memorial. ^_^

This reminds me, I have an old Board -> new Board list by

It got produced by the import process, and is on the T-Board server, but I completely forgot to actually do anything with it. And I'm not sure I'll manage to get around to that for a while.
People should feel free to poke me for a copy.

As at least two people have noted, the 'Next page' and 'Search' buttons on my memorial are kinda borked. Can you help?
I could probably bodge them both by deleting swathes of HTML, but I'd like to make minimal changes. I managed to get the Post Message button to inject a 199610 into the New Board link and still work, so... that'd be nice?
I think Nesh's idea of Next Page linking to the relevant page somewhere is a nice one, too. Is there any way to get a permanent 'past' link on the New Board, or is it restricted to 'Page 2' etc?

- f you change the
action
on the "Post message" button tohttps://www.plotprotectors.org/posts/new
, it'll go right to the new post page For the search bar
- Change the
method
on theform
element to"get"
- Remove the
enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded"
- Add `accept-charset="UTF-8"
- Set the
action
tohttps://www.plotprotectors.org/posts/search
- Add
<input name="utf8" type="hidden" value="✓">
inside the form - Where the
input
hasname="search_term'
, change that toname='query"
These steps will make the search box submit the same network requests to T-Board as T-Board does. If you want a better reference, right click the search bar on T-Board, hit inspect element, and migrate over the relevant bits of that form (excluding stuff like
style
,id
, orclass
)- Change the
Next page should probably be made to link to the relevant page in the archives ... which may not exist yet, because I've had a bunch going on and/or been bad at getting around to Board stuff, since, just like on the old Board, there's no way to link to "25 posts starting from last Tuesday". If we really wanted to we could add one though...

Thanks for taking the effort to archive the last few threads. It’s a shame that pressing next page or trying to use the search function, causes Google to freak out and believe that you are trying to steal my personal information.
