I may have zero knowledge or familiarity with MDZS, but I know this fic is bad for many reasons. First of all, lackluster and dry writing, and second of all, the crossover happens very suddenly and unconvincingly. From what I know, MDZS is set in China or a heavily Chinese-themed universe and Onmyōji is explicitly set in Japan in the Heian period, yet in the latter half, characters from both continuities just inexplicably meet and interact without too much trouble. We might have trouble getting this fic missioned as there are few to no permitted boarders in either or both fandoms, but I'd appreciate if anyone is willing to MST this fic with me.

That being said, if the only thing that's egregious about this fic is that the writing is lackluster, I don't really see the point in MSTing or missioning it. Not all badfics are missionable -- what really marks something as mission-worthy is whether or not there's something that would be funny that comes out of it. Otherwise we just come across as nitpicking killjoys. (And believe me, I learnt that the hard way. A badfic whose badness is funny will sustain your interest long enough to mission it, rather than something you just feel obliged to spork because there's a Sue in it.)

That being said, MDZS takes place roughly in the late Tang Dynasty, which did overlap somewhat with the Heian period, so hypothetically it's just a trip to Dongying (the classical name for Japan in Chinese culture, also mentioned in the MDZS novel) for MDZS characters to make it to the world of Onmyoji. So... not as disparate as you may think!

The characters never mention or suggest travelling to another country or welcoming foreigners in their country, the fic doesn't seem to know the two continuities are from two different countries and have different fantasy worldbuildings, and makes no effort to explain or bridge the differences. The Onmyōji characters just… pop out of nowhere.

-- would missioning this fic develop your agents? Is there a concept coming out of missioning this fic that would be a good addition to the shared PPC universe, or to your agents' backstories and timelines?

There is so much badfic out there, and not all of it is worth sporking. The latest mission I did was because the fic plagiarised the MDZS unofficial English translation and made a bunch of weird typos which made it funny (and the Stu's name was ridiculous, too). The last time I did an MST, it was because the fic consistently misspelt Weeping Angels as "weeping angles". I know you wanna spork things -- I had this exact energy when I was younger here. But saving your energy for something bad in a really funny way is going to give you and the rest of the PPC community a more entertaining sporking experience in the long run.
