Can I Claim a badfic before I request Permission?
Hi, I’m Linstar! Aka RumbridgeXVolzemort on the wiki (Yes, a joke 'ship for minis from My Immortal). Most of my info’s on my wiki page.
I am also in LOTR, (I am anxiously anticipating the release of Amazon's Rings of Power and praying tht it won't be as bad as the Hobbit movies), but I haven't really been into Harry Potter in a few years. I am also in the Star Trek fandom, and that's about it. There are other things I like (such as Shakespeare) that I wouldn't really consider myself to be in the fandom but I am still somewhat interested in. That also applies to Star Wars.
I've read both LoTR and the Hobbit, but it's been a long time. I could probably use a reread. And I have a long list of fandoms on my wiki page.
I'm glad you were able to sign up. I saw your comment on my Talk page, but I've been hella busy and I knew Tomash and Huinesoron were already aware of the issue, so there wasn't anything more for me to do.
Having looked at the wiki for the first time in a while, I notice that you've been leaving comments on various articles' Talk pages. That's fine, but since most of us don't monitor wiki Talk pages, it's not the best way to start a conversation or bring something to our attention. Instead, bring it up here! Especially if it's a matter for serious community discussion. If you have lots of questions, please keep them to one thread so as not to bury other people's threads.
Also, if you like live chat, the Discord is a great place for casual conversation and quickly getting a sense for other people's opinions on, say, whether a given fic is bad or not. I'm sure someone will be happy to extend you an invitation if you'd like.

I think most of the comments I've left on talk pages were from before I was able to join the Board. Thankfully, Tomash has helped me out there, and I'll try to bring up anything I see here instead, hopefully in the same thread.
I don't think I can get on Discord, though. Sorry about that.
No need to apologize. You're welcome to discuss anything and everything here on the Board (provided you follow the Constitution). It'll just happen at a slower pace than in chat. Some of us tend to prefer that anyway. {= )

I'm unable to access Discord, not that I wouldn't want to.
I'm not always sure when a thread is active and will get replies.
... the entire front page will be seen, because it's easy to scroll down and look for the black dots. I always get a little baffled when someone shows up 12 hours after a thread starts and apologises for being so late. o.O

Can I Claim a badfic before I request Permission?
There probably is at least one claimed example on the Claimed Badfic page, if I remember correctly.

When should I request Permission? What's the recommended wait time? (I joined..let's see...four days ago. [That's all?])
There really is no firm timeline - what we ask is that you wait until people know you and you understand what the PPC is about and how to write stories for it. You do this by reading the stories that are already written (as I know you're already doing!), and learning from them.
That said, there's a fairly solid guideline that you should wait about a month before asking. (It used to be a hard rule, but then people read it as "lurk a month and you'll definitely get it"; then we tried to throw it out altogether and people said "hi I'm new here are my agents"; so now it's a capital-G Guideline.) That gives you time to read broadly and figure out what you like, and us time to get a proper view of how you interact with the community.

I think I read something like that in the Permission article. I definitely want to finish the Original Series first as well.
Looking forward to mid-May!
(Just so you know, I was expecting something like that. I definitely didn't think four days was enough)
In my first Permission request, I botched the formatting and had some grammar errors. I did not get Permission, so I waited a while, rewrote it a bit, tried to fix some things, and got a friend to beta-read it. I got official permission, and now I'm working on my first mission. I'm also working on some unrelated fanfic, original writing, and poems. I am also working on an embroidery project which needs to be finished on Saturday at the latest.
If you look at the very first Claimed Badfic on the page, in Crossovers, it says "Permission Pending". So, yeah, there's one. I see at least five total in the first few sections.
Yeah, I'll probably do that. There's a couple fics I REALLY want.
Thanks, hS!
Can you tell us your fandoms?
I have a list on my wiki account. But I’d include Harry Potter, LoTR (though it’s been a while), Miraculous Ladybug and Avatar: the Last Airbender.
throws confetti Welcome! Have an endless confetti bag!
Yeah, I finally figured it out, after a good amount of frustration. Thanks for the confetti!
