We all know that there are badfics, and then there are badfics. Which Legendaries do you personally hate the most?
—Another questioning query from Ls, who likes the letter q.
((Edited to remove an unnecessary query.))

Legendary Badfic have pretty solid critera. by

Here's what the Wiki says¹:
For a badfic to be considered Legendary, it must:
- Be at least five years old.
- Return a decent number of relevant Google hits from the past year, indicating that people are still talking about it. (You can select "Past year" in Google's Search Tools.) A "decent number" is at least five in the first two pages of results, i.e. 5 in 20, on the assumption that there are probably more hidden in the depths of the Internet. (This expectation may be lightened for very old fics, on a case by case basis.) Ideally, the search should be performed on the fic's title without quotation marks, since this demonstrates the fic's notoriety, but anything that gets the job done is okay. Hits on/related to a PPC mission to the fic don't count.
- Be famous in its own right, not because of the author/sequel/prequel/fanart/whatever.
- Be acknowledged as awful by a majority of PPCers with an opinion.
Bleepfic is considered to be, according to its article, "those badfics as painful and terrible to read as any Legendary Badfic, but not well-known enough by the community to be considered truly legendary." So, probably, bleepfic would also have to be voted on by the community, but it does not need Google Stats to prove that it is well-known.
Basically, legendary badfic has to be well-known for their badness (and solely that) and be acknowledged as awful enough to be legendary, as well as being old enough for the title. They are also often NSFW and NSFB, to boot.
¹Modified slightly because I don't know how to do those fancy "list within a list" things.

Despite not fitting most of the criteria, I'd still consider StWWX Legendary. by

It proved that the metadata of a fic on AO3 is as much part of the reading experience there as the fic itself, the fic itself became a monster to justify the metadata, and the controversy surrounding it caused AO3 to install tag limits. But I might be running more on "it's Legendary because fandom at large and even non-fanfic-reading normies know of it/hate it", which is different from "it's Legendary because most PPCers have heard of it and hate it".

STWWX is "famous in its own right" in my opinion, even if it's more because of its metadata than its story. As you say, it proved that the metadata is an integral part of a fic on AO3. And, while I hate to compare anything to "Agony in Pink," part of that fic's Legendary-ness is that it got the newsgroup that hosted it banned in Australia. If it makes waves beyond fandom, that surely counts for something, and there's the precedent.
Anyway, the guidelines are more like guidelines than actual rules; it's just that people will keep on asking if they can say their pet hate is a Legendary, so we needed some way to filter suggestions more or less objectively.
... I really feel like I've said all this before. Have I?

To some extent! We had a convo about this in an earlier Board post, by

but I don't know if any consensus was reached on whether or not to officially dub StWWX a Legendary. Either way, I do plan on making it a Wiki page once I publish its mission.

I’d agree with you on Legendariness. by

Or at least that it deserves its own wiki page.

So that’s one person! Though I have not read it, and, as per your last post on it, have zero desire to.

As for what I personally hate, Legendary-wise... by

For Your Eyes Only. I haven't even read the fanfic (just the mission) but from the mission alone I... can't. I don't know why some of the Naruto characters are sentient beings but are also pets, the mpreg is just shivers it makes no sense to me, even though I have read a lot of mpreg. Those Stus truly are something to me. And the frog scene... shivers
I don't understand what the badfic was going for, but... it was something.

I honestly don’t even want to read the wiki page. That fic looks horrible. (nm) by

Honestly, I should have just gone wiki-ing (if that’s a verb) rather than bother the Board. Oh well.
