The list of winners and nominees is up, and I figured this would be a good reason to ask if people had read/watched any of these and what their thoughts were. So, do take a look at that list and feel free to rave (or rant, or grumble annoyedly) about what's there.

As for my personal thoughts: - A Desolation Called Peace was a solid mix of first-contact book and political thriller. It is a sequel to A Memory Called Empire and so might need some context, but it was definitely a good book. - Whether I'd've personally put it above The Galaxy And The Ground Within is a question I'm torn on - both are books I'd recommend, but for different reasons. - Of the novellas I've read, A Psalm For The Wild-Built is very good ... I'd recommend going to read it if you haven't. It's a very nice bit of hopeful sci-fi. - (Elder Race is also an understandable nomination. It went to really neat conceptual territory, but could've probably hit a bit harder in the characters and emotions department) - "Unknown Number", the only one of the short stories I'd heard of before, gets a shout-out for it's format. It's a thread of screenshots of a fictional text conversation, and to say more would be to spoil the premise. - I'm not sure I can meaningfully comment on any of the other categories.
