Pretty good! The thing that mostly threw me was the claim that as bronze isn't a colour in our heraldry, it should be represented by tenne. Uh... why can't Tortall use different metals? Just blazon it as bronze (the French is the same as the English in this case).

There really was a lot of brown and grey in there. I got to wondering if maybe they were all representing bronze and steel (acier, in French).

I ran into "Blazoning Tortall" by ChimeraKitten bouncing around the internet earlier today, and it seems like the sort of deep obscure fandom nerdery that folks here would appreciate (*pointedly glances at hS*). It was neat to see what the various coats of arms in those books might have looked like, and some of what they might reveal about folks in said books - as well as showing Tamora Pierce doing more research on the topic over time.

I also found that said person did a reconstruction of the Belmont achievement from Castlevania which also seems to be a solid "heraldry 101" document.
