Happy New Year and hello, everyone! Goodness, it's been a while.

2023 was not one of my greatest years, but I decided to try harder and be better this year... and one of my resolutions for 2024 is to read more books. I managed to finally drag myself out of a huge reading slump in December, and I'm proud to report that my few 2023 reads were (mostly) quality over quantity. Here are my top ten books from last year, and an honorable mention!

  1. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
  2. The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
  3. The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw
  4. Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield
  5. The Blind Owl by Sadegh Hedayat
  6. The Butchering Art by Lindsey Fitzharris
  7. Zombies: A Cultural History by Roger Luckhurst
  8. The Penguin Book of Vampire Stories edited by Alan Ryan
  9. The Crow by James O'Barr
  10. Wormwood by Poppy Z. Brite

+1: Dark Matter by Michelle Paver

If you've read any of these, what did you think? What were your favorite reads from last year? Do you have a TBR list for this year? I'd love to hear any and all bookish discussion from you folks.

Oculus, wishing everyone a great year
