Pretty neat experience. Seeing the world go dark and quiet like it was twilight... it was magical.

The sun goes dark.
The world is knocked askew.
The earth shakes. Bridges tumble into the sea. Prophets proclaim the end of days.
Beasts flee an unexpected night. The calls of birds fill the air. Ancient runes stir to their purpose, uncomprehending.
The sun goes dark.
The people rejoice.
Now, we are freed from those accursed rays. Now, we have escaped the heat. Now, we are bathed in moonlight. Now, the world might yet be saved.
The sun goes light.
The birds and beasts stir from a flicker of sleep.
The runes fall quiet.
The people disperse. Nothing has changed. Nothing was gained but memory. Nothing but joy and wonder, and the hope that the sun might yet grow dark again.
The world comes back into alignment.
The sen goes light.
But one of the trees in my backyard makes a very good pinhole projector.
The sun goes dark, and the people of Garmund march around the city walls, singing.
The sun goes dark, and the wind blows cold over the black sky. The queen gives birth to a son who does not cry. When he grows up, he doesn't speak either. He becomes a great mage.
Back in 1999, the UK almost entirely missed its last total eclipse due to heavy cloud cover. I was outside the area of totality, but close enough for an extreme partial with decent weather. It was surreal. All the seagulls came down to roost. I hope to see a similar partial in 2026; a total UK eclipse won't come again until 2090.
The sun goes dark. Photos of the event show cracks of light running through the surface of the moon. They are dismissed as artefacts of the cameras.
The sun goes dark. The old gods are dead. The priests scramble to name the new gods who will rise in their place.
The sun goes dark. We were promised it was over, but the sun goes dark and we hear the whispers again.
The sun goes dark. Everyone on Earth finally gets a good night's sleep.

I'm not in totality, but at least there will be a partial eclipse.
My mom and I are fortunate to have a friend who lives near the path of totality in Ohio. We're in the car heading out in search of a good site as I type. ^_^
