I've been racking my brain trying to think of a title. I supposed we could always go with HPLOTRPOTCsues, but that's rather...obvious.
I have a nickname for it, though: "Harry Potter and the Pirates of the Rings."
Perhaps Epicsues -- or Sagasues?
Myth&magicsues?
I'm open to suggestions.
Also, should this be on LJ or dreamwidth? Or perhaps both?

I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this, but we used to know ourselves not just as PPCers, but as members of the Canon Protection Initiative. What is the CPI? As the Wiki says:
"The effort put forth by PPCers, OFU heads, MSTers, GAFFers, and all goodfic writers to ensure that a fictional world and all its denizens are treated with respect whenever they are borrowed for fanfiction use."
My guess is that most people here don't know anyone from other canon-protecting organizations. So what happened? Well...time happened. Miss Cam stopped managing the Official Fanfiction Universities, Tviokh left Livejournal and the most popular of the Sue reports, Al's Waiter hasn't been seen MSTing in ages, and GAFF has relocated so many times that it's hard to keep tabs on it.
Although each of these organizations had different ways of operating, we all shared our love of canon and our hatred of badfic. The fact that we would often intermingle with other members of the Canon Protection Initiative led to the cross-pollination of ideas, which in turn led to better writing and a stronger community.
I think it's high time we started making the rounds again. If each PPCer visited another Sue-mocking site once a week--whether to leave a review of an OFU, post a Sue report on deleterius, or to create a PPC outpost somewhere else (say, DeviantArt or Dreamwidth)--we could get the circulation of ideas flowing again among the various communities.
This is, of course, entirely voluntary...but this is an instance where our greater diversity of fandom can work in our favor. I'm sure you all know PPC-friendly places that I haven't visited, or websites where we could exchange writing tips. For my part, I want to get the Pirates of the Caribbean Mary Sue Report going again, but am short of volunteers, no longer having the time to do all the sporkings myself. We had some great discussions going on, and with rumors of PotC 5 in the works, we'll no doubt see another onslaught of badfic.
And as always, we can invite our Canon-protecting brethren to join us here! We have pie. Mmmmm...pie...

... so I'm in the process of rebooting OFUDisc. Given the presence of Elves on Discworld, I think that guarentees an appearence by ISPCE... so we'll see what we see.

That nickname is pretty good.
Hm... could we just call it BigThreeSues? Unimaginative, I know, but it gets the point across...
We could called it bigthreesues, and if anyone is confused as to which three...that's what our nickname will be for. I'll give it a couple more days, and then maybe we can put it up to a vote.

seal_sues? Like the Navy SEALs, for sea, air, and land, and I feel like PotC is all about the waves, Middle-earth about saving the land from industrialisation, and the sky for Quidditch in Harry Potter.

Oh, and as a heads up - IAHF has been taken over by Sues from the Mirror Multiverse, but as of now PPC help isn't required until some Grand Finale battle. I want to immerse the students into a war zone and see how "kawaii" they think invading vital regions are after being forced underground by bombings, dealing with food shortages, and living under a Mary Sue police state complete with the systematic execution of more intellectual students.
... I'm just not sure what.

All the other Sue reports I can find haven't been active in at least a year--other than pottersues, but that's a one-woman show. There may be others...check their profile page for a full listing.

I remember seeing a fanfic... somewhere, which was sort of similar to an OFU, except... not an OFU, really
It was a Hetalia fic, and people would send in questions about certain writing things, and the author would write a chapter on each one.
Like, there would be a chapter on how to use semi-colons, and how to write good FanFic summaries, and things like that.
I really can't remember what it was called though. I'll search about and see if I can find it again.
That Sue-Report thing especially. I've found lots of badfic that are too short to make a real mission of, and this deleterius thing sounds good! I'm gonna try and post stuff there now.
... It looks like the deleterius community has been shut down. The Mary Sue Report is still active, though.
Funny, seems from the posting frequency that deleterius was still pretty active until Tviokh the anonymous mod shut it down.

Anyone up for a Big Three community? (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean). Besides PotC 5, LotR will be kicking up dust again with the Hobbit movies being released in December.
For one, there is lots more Bilbo/Smaug now, thanks to the actors, and Evangeline Lilly playing a movie-created elleth might be cause for wank...
And let's not even discuss how cute Fili and Kili are.

You know, I can just see Gimli and the other dwarves gathering together at OFUM, bemoaning the fact that Dwarves are no longer ignored as objects of attraction for fanbrats. Yes, Dwarves, you thought you were safe! But alas, your hour has come. :P
And poor Fili and Kili getting the same amounts of protection as Legolas, too
And don't forget how Bilbo and Smaug would be swarmed by Sherlock fangirls trying to stick striped jumpers on the poor hobbit and blue scarves on the dragon, and trying to get them to make out or something.
That is, if said fangirls don't squeeze the stuffing out of Bilbo for being made out of jam, kittens, and rage (the woes of being played by Martin Freeman) or scarring Smaug for life in lustful advances (woes of being played by Benedict Cumberbatch).

Some of it isn't terrible and actually rather cute and humourous, but there's one that may require a Bad Slash/Disentangler co-op:
Treasure Me: "Bilbo trespassed Cumberdragon’s lair one too many times." NSFW, NSFB possibly, huge amounts of squick (noncon, interspecies, etc).
The other two in the second link are also a bit iffy on the whole bestiality thing but at least they aren't as egregious (the third might be a bit iffy also on geography in Middle-earth, but seriously the first one is probably the one the PPC has to worry about more).
The Holmesian bad slashers can be pretty awful, too.
The thing is, I'm not really interested in a lot of PotC badfic, so I don't think that'd work.
What did Araeph mean by a PPC outpost on DA?
Believe or not, there used to be a fair amount of fanart drawn in this community and/or the OFUM. Also there's a DA account for drawings of agents, but it hasn't been active since 2006.
More than that, what I was getting at was that there used to be a lot of other stuff being created around the PPC - a fictional PPC tabloid, a PPC radio play, PPC Lego webcomics, a PPC computer game.

As for not mocking PotC badfic, as I suggested to Antigone above, do you think people would be up for an HP/LOTR/POTC community?
Well, I'm mostly in anime and cartoons, but I have read Harry Potter and I'm reading LOTR now. I think that an HP thing could be good, but I also want to do the fanfic report thing for shows like Teen Titans, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Phineas and Ferb, My Little Pony... wow, there's a lot on that list...
Oh, right, the question. I think that people would be up for the Big THree thingie. It could be a good way for permission-less newcomers to try out sporking things before a full-fledged mission.
