Fanfic advice? by

I have a couple premises. One is a ponified Dragnet, narrated by Los Pegasus Police Department sergeant Notes Wednesday. The first story is to be about the robbery of an opera house, and I would like to know what some of the major opera houses/groups in the LA area are. Furthermore, where can I learn more about realistic police procedures?
The other, inspired by a TVTropes Wild Mass Guess for Myst, is set in a bad future where the Earth is in tension between two opposite sociopolitical extremes (barely defined, to avoid insulting anyone's politics, but both equally insane). It is to focus on crimethinkful refugees fleeing to Releeshahn. My question is, what are some ways the people in the Cavern could distinguish refugees from spies? - Los Angeles Opera Company by on 2013-06-18 22:41:00 UTC Reply

On the subject of (EPC) spies... by

Sorry about posting something mostly unrelated but it seemed better to post it in a slightly related thread.
Who came up with the idea that EPC agents might have slipped across into HQ during the last shields breach, and can I have permission to consider using that as a story element? -

I guess a shibboleth, something that natives of wherever they claim were fleeing from can pronounce well, but 'almost' no one else could.
Most often searches are the best way. Anything that could be seen as a recording device, maybe even pen and paper if if you want your factions to be that mad, can be used as evidence. But then, a good spy will never bring whatever that could incriminate him, but he may have a sign that was planted by his nation/order before he take the mission, and as such, can't be foolproof against naked body search. -

...as the majority of refugees are fleeing thoughtcrime charges.
And even in the Cavern, there have been betrayals from within. -

Such as: "for the fatherparty!"
There can be an expert determining the slight facial reactions to the words. Happy, spy. Cringe, refugee. -
