You don't just change established minis.
So, since I'm writing what seems to be the first Avengers (maybe even the first Marvel Cinematic Universe) mission, I'm stuck at the minis.
Well, I'd go for mini-Chitauri for Avengers, but I'm not sure how to handle this, since these movies are effectively one continuum, and they don't really have that one central theme.
Help?

I think that mission has a couple of minis in it, though I'm not certain what the rules are for them. It might be better to go with mini-Chitauri anyway, since it's not that complicated. That's how I view it, anyway.
You don't just change established minis.
Since the main characters don't really interact until the Avengers movie, I would say that it would be best to take something from that movie. What would you call those giant snake-like alien things? Because those might make good minis.
Chitauri is the species, and encompasses everything from the giant things to the foot soldiers. Leviathan is the specific name for the giant space whales. At least, I think that's how it works.
What the Avengers is, is basically a giant crossover between a bunch of the Marvel superheroes. Therefore the minis would be dealt with in the same manner as crossovers. I'm not very strong on Marvel knowledge, so I'm not sure if there's any constant monster in any of the heroes' particular continua but the Chitauri would probably fit the bill.
Ah, pardon my ignorance. I don't recall the Chitauri actually being named in the Avengers movie, and the only other Marvel movies I've watched are Iron Man and Captain America.
Oh yes, I would like to see one of those as a mini.
