Or anything with super-horrible lyrics, I guess.

I know it has absolutely jack to do with fanfiction or fandom, but I was wondering what the general musical taste in the PPC is. I want to occasionally make reference to a song, but if I reference a song nobody knows it's weird. Also, music is fun to talk about. Fire away!
Or anything with super-horrible lyrics, I guess.
I know nobody's seen me for a long time, but I'll reply anyways.
I like classical music, mild pop, and LOTR film score. Especially the LOTR film score.
A lot of this is various types of rock. Hair bands, Classic heavy metal, Classic rock, Disco, Punk, Alternative, Chicago blues, Delta blues, Big band, Bluegrass, Old country (like Merle Haggard, Hank Williams), Some specific fast country songs (particularly from the 90's), Some Techno and Dance, Some Classical, Some Some old time Gospel songs, and Irish folk music (think The Dubliners. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. Etc.). I'm probably forgetting something.
Mostly I like anything that has a fast beat to it, or has a good story to tell. A lot of the Blues, old country, and the Irish Folk is not fast at all, but it says something, or it's beautiful, and I like that too.
I seem to be an outlier here in that I love... I'm not sure how to classify it, but I like the Birthday Massacre, Sleater-Kinney, and Evanescence especially. Just things in that family. Somehow, though, my radio always end up on a pop station while I dance like an idiot to Nicki Minaj...
Hey there, fellow TBM fan! *high-fives*
Oh yeah, and I also love anything by the Youtube user stopitsgingertime.
My radio spends 99% of its time on the local classical station (the exception would be when the Nebraska football team is playing, so it's staying on classical until next August).
I listen to some classic rock, I think I have most of the Alan Parsons Project on CD. I have a lot of classic jazz as well. There's also a group called Brule (there should be an accent on that e) that I really like; it's a mix of contemporary music and traditional Native American.
I also own a lot of soundtracks. My "go-to" CD for when I'm having trouble writing an RPG scenario is the full soundtrack for "Alexander Nevsky", it's especially good for fight scenes ;) .
If I'm trying to do something, I prefer to put a pure instrumental on. Vocals in a language I don't understand work as background music as well, but if I understand the words I end up following along with the words and get distracted.
I like heaps of stuff- I have weird tastes in music, so my music library is a little strange. My favourite bands include Angelspit, The Birthday Massacre, IAMX, Goldfrapp, Imogen Heap, Lady Gaga, Garbage, Placebo, Shiv-R, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sneaker Pimps.
I, as with many others, have a really random taste in music and my current playing jumps all over the place.
Playing so far this morning I have had; Korn, Frank Sinatra, Niel Diamond, Final Fantasy VII, Rammstein, Phantom of the Opera, Madness, Dolly Parton and it's currently on Pirates of Penzance.
Mostly ska, techno, and rap (especially pony rap and nerd core). I'll listen to just about anything, though.
Well, I've got a pretty eclectic taste in music, but my current playlist has music from A Very Potter Musical/Sequel, Adele, the Uncharted 3 OST, several MLP:FiM techno remixes, E.S. Posthumus, Mumford and Sons, the Portal 1 & 2 OSTs, and so on.
Music is pretty awesome. I tend to listen to... well, pretty much everything on the rock/metal, and I actually do lead vocals/rhythm guitar in a Lovecraft-themed power metal/grunge/prog metal band.
We... uh... we aren't all that great.
Rush is a way better band and you should go listen to them.
Like, right now. Just stop whatever you're doing and go listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQEgZNqa8jE
Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and Alain Bashung rank among my favourite musicians. I don't know too much about the anglophone music scene, but I know that there quite a few good French artists and bands out there.
Aside from that, the London Philharmonic Orchestra has made some pretty awesome covers for various video game themes.
Nobody has posted links yet, so just wondering...
But especially electronic, soundtracks, orchestral, etc.
Here's a trivia bit: do you know that my username is based off of the opera 'Wozzeck' by Alban Berg?
So yeah, that characterizes me. I like pretty much a lot of classical music, through a lot of time periods, and a lot of craziness in that regard.
Just don't show me Mozart: I personally think Mozart is the single most overrated musician of all time. Well, except for Justin Bieber (who, ironically, takes all the attention away from H.G.I.F. Biber, a Baroque-era composer who wrote some great violin works).
I'm also a sucker for musical theater, especially Rodgers and Hammerstein as well as Stephen Sondheim.
Generally speaking, I don't like songs with words; I find that often as not, the words kind of get in the way of the music. Pokemon music's usually pretty good. The boss battle for Bowser's Inside Story is freaking awesome, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl has pretty good remixes.
The few songs I like with words generally tend to be from the group Vocal Point. They do a cappela versions of whatever songs catch their fancy, and it's really cool.
We don't necessarily have to stick to fandom or fanfiction on the Board; we talk about whatever seems interesting.
On that note, my favourite music... well, I have a lot of differing tastes, really. ABBA and Queen are among my favourite old groups, but I enjoy cheesy pop music, Disney Princesses songs, and musicals such as The Lion King, Wicked and assorted works by Andrew Lloyd Webber. :P
My absolute favourite musical artists, though, are Blind Guardian, a German power metal band whose biggest claim to fame is their Silmarillion concept album Nightfall in Middle-earth.
I was never into electronic or video game music.
I love Queen. Bohemian Rhapsody, for the win. Classic rock in general is great.
Metal is my other big genre. Together with classic rock, the two make up well over three quarters of my musical library.
The other eigth or so is mostly Celtic folk, marches, and crossovers between genres.
