Frankenstein, Agent of SHADE (Comic book)
- Frankenstein, who was apparently Conan at one point in the past, judging from his sword, is the leader of a BPRD-like group called the Creature Commandos, as they protect the world from all kinds of other monsters.
Exactly as the title says:
As a rather sheltered new boarder with a bitchy internet and small reference pool, it's hard to meet up with the 'board recognition' requirement for Permission if I have nothing to talk about anyway, so let's try this. On this thread, rave about your best and favorite fandom (or fandoms, if you so have), and try to get someone else to read/watch/play it (video games included), however, when initially describing it, you're only allowed one sentence until someone asks you to explain further.
Why I made this thread? Being the sheltered lil' weirdo I am, I only know an elite few that aren't as well known...Most of them Anime, but some not. Looking around the board the few times I can, I see long-and heavy threads on things that I only wish I knew...LotR, Dr. Who, Firefly, Star Wars at one point...so I can't really say anything there, can I?
Here, I might find something I wanna get into, and likewise get some info on what people like and my sharings on something that I might have in common with someone.

Axis Powers Hetalia (Anime)
A look at World War II and other historical events through the eyes of anthromorphic countries. It... might not be everyone's cup of tea, though...
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (Cartoon)
Yes, I KNOW, but this is only meant to be a recommendation, I'm not forcing you to watch it. Anyway, it's the adventures of six ponies in the land of Equestria, using their skills and the "Elements of Harmony" to save the day. That's pretty much it.

Girl Genius (webcomic)

(The "official" synopsis is better, but it's two sentences. This isn't a fandom that gives us much business, but it's nice to have something the Suethors leave alone.)

I'm not sure I need to elaborate any more, but for form's sake:
First person "shooter" puzzle game. Physics and portals. Crazy AIs. Weighted Companion cubes. Jumping, flinging, running, and test-solving for your life. Neurotoxin.
And cake, of course.
If I know a lot about a game I have never played, it's Portal.
My computer cannot handle it, but I've watched a lot of vids of it, and loved the overall story.

Mass Effect- Video Game
Humanity is found by a bunch of species, they rise to prominence, and one of them attempts to fight against a threat that will destroy all organic life.

Silent Hill - Video game series, film (technically an AU)
Survival horror in which the titular town manifests the nightmarish horrors of various people including a tortured young girl, a man with latent guilt and the psychotic delusions of a cult.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - 26-ep anime, anime film series (2 of 4 released currently)
Teenage pilots battle Things That Should Not Be in near-future Japan while coming to terms (or not) with their own psychological issues.
SCP Foundation - Collaborative writing website
Shady non-governmental agency contains crazy, terrifying and just plain weird things that it's best the public do not know about. Not a 'fandom' in the typical sense, but worth a read.
Uzumaki - Manga
Small Japanese town is afflicted by various... odd things surrounding spirals. Body Horror and cosmic horror abound.

Loved Uzumaki! Kirie is just way too blunt. Been trying to get the courage to read more things from Junji Ito like the Enigma of Amigara Fault, but the pics might not be stomachable...@_@

I'll admit, I had the same problem when I first joined. And still do, as I know next to nothing about half the fandoms people seem to like. This seems like a good way to get those of us not familiar with the more popular fandoms to have something to talk about.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Series of light novels and accompanying Anime
About a hyperactive high school girl who is, supposedly, God and the chaos she inadvertently causes.
Mother 3 - Turn based RPG by Nintendo
Sequel to Earthbound with traveling doorknobs, fire-breathing robot dinosaurs and an army of fat guys wearing pig masks.
...to the recommendation of Haruhi Suzumiya. Truly a fantastic series; make sure to read the light novels though (not that that anime is bad, it's great, but the novels give you a fuller picture).
There's also the (animated) film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, which is brilliant.
What's the plot if it? I've only heard hypes of it,looks sorta like a slice-of-life with the seifuku and everything.
Not really a fan of SoL unless the idea has a quirky feel about it, and by quirky I mean "What do you mean, it's not awesome?" (like bento)
I like this idea. It is always good to have a new game.

It's basically a group of Bento stores get the idea to blitz sale (all bento half price when bought in the next X hours thing), and their customers literally fight over it. Meanwhile and unlucky everydude tries to get close to a girl who's neck deep in this.
