Long time no bug with questions, people!
About Agents, how critical is it to have a 'home continuum'? I had an idea where one of the agents was an OC created in the midst of an RP that had no one continuum (crossover-ish, but even then it was superficial), and such only has a vague clue(s).
And once again, sorry for the pestering. Asking questions is probably the only way for me to talk to people here, since my fandoms aren't really that popular anymore...and my internet is being bitchy as to when I can log on.
...but I'd like to say that a spin-off with an Agent searching for his/her/xir home continuum is something that I'd definitely want to read! ^_^
I'm still missing the 'recognized on the board' requirement though, and I'm a little bit concerned at that: not only is my internet giving me '*browser* cannot access this web page' shenanigans, because of the broad spectrum of topics here I rarely find one where I have anything more than a couple of cents to say. Not much of a book/movie fan, unlike everyone else here, not much access to tv shows outside of what the Philippines shows either.
In a nutshell, I love making characters unique. Even canon characters I write in a unique (that doesn't equal badfic) way.
Oh I know, I was just mentioning it in passing 'cause it's an idea that I don't think I've seen before!
Hmm, I can see why that would pose a problem... you say you aren't much of a book/movie fan; in my experience that's because you've been reading the wrong books and watching the wrong films!
What sort of genres/stories do you like, I'm sure I (or other Boarders) will be able to give you some recommendations! :)
Had an idea on how to net two birds in one swipe...let's continue this discussion elsewhere...
Er... Okay. My email address is linked above (click my username), feel free to drop me a line.

Considering agents can be from anywhere in the multiverse, from any text and non-text medium, I wouldn't say having a home is very important. And even when an agent does have a 'home' it can be sort of arbitrary. An agent that hails from Middle Earth may be very different from one lifted out of a badfic set in middle earth. An agent from a Middle-Earth-set romance fic may even be very different from an agent that hails from a Middle-Earth-set action/adventure fic.
Agents can be from unpublished works, original fiction... ANYTHING could be out there, so anything goes, really. As long as it's enjoyable and well-balanced.

But on the second item, asking questions is not pestering. That said, a lot of stuff can be found on the wiki and throughout
While asking questions might help you understand the PPC, it doesn't really get you involved in the community itself. Comment on missions and stories! Get into a (friendly) debate with someone! There are plenty of places and ways for you to show your viewpoint; we don't really see that with you only asking questions.
There are plenty of interesting topics on the board right now. Huinesoron's thread on deities and how they work across various continua if they're the same- and whether they might even be the same at all despite sharing similar roles to ones we are familiar with in the real world- is just barely getting started, and then there's the goodfic thread with a link to the PPC Rec Center and the fics that people find good in that particular thread already!
I don't see it as being that important to have a home continuum. What is important is that there is a consistent set of rules that govern your character. Who knows, maybe the search for their home continuum could be a major plot line for that character.
that that was what I was going for with this character? XD
I plan out my characters a whole lot whenever I do them, so I'm just running through my questions when I come up with one.
BTW, I haven't been on much because of my internet, but I joined up around Dec. Is my probation done or do I have to wait more?
If you'll read over the Permission article, you'll see there isn't a set time to wait. You can ask for permission whenever you feel comfortable; it's just that asking when we barely know you and you barely know us is advised against for reasons explained in the article.
