How do they rise up, rise up, rise up high? by

I'm currently on holidays in NZ and it's bright and early on the Glorious 25th of May here, whatever the Board timestamp may say, and so let me be the first to wish you all a frabjous Geek Pride Day.
For those that have forgotten, today marks at least 3 major canon milestones:- The establishment of the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road ("Truth, Justice, Freedom, Reasonably-Priced Love and a Hard-Boiled Egg!") in Discworld
- The day the Earth was destroyed by the Vogons in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy ("Towel Day")
- The anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars movie in 1977
Plus possibly others that I can't recall / am not aware of?
Make sure you remember your towel!
Elcalion, delurking to celebrate - The establishment of the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road ("Truth, Justice, Freedom, Reasonably-Priced Love and a Hard-Boiled Egg!") in Discworld

...I haven't gotten to the Discworld book in which the Glorious 25th of May is mentioned, but I shall celebrate anyways.
I can't find any lilac, though. *sulks*

I would've posted yesterday, but Gen/Geb stole my lilac towels line. That doesn't mean I can't help people trying to celebrate! Or, well, I guess these are Internet lilacs and not "real" lilacs, but it's also the 26th of May and not the 25th, so the disparities may or may not end up not mattering.
Oh, and the book featuring the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road and the Glorious 25th of May was Night Watch, from the Watch Series. It's another really good one, so I won't say anything else about it to you too keep out unintended spoilers. -
Thanks for the lilac! by

And please, call me Aila.
Yes, I don't believe those disparities matter in the least, do they?
And I shall read that, I shall! By next May, at least. I really want to...

Alas, our lilacs have already been and gone for the year, as usual. They just don't last very long. {= (
However, this marks about ten years of being a PPCer for me. I started counting from this holiday, since I can't remember when I actually joined but I do remember being thoroughly confused the first time I encountered a thread like this. ^_^
I'll probably end up celebrating by doing laundry, since that's where most of my towels happen to be at the moment.
Cheers, everyone!

Hooray! I need to go find me some lilacs. Pity it's so wet out over here.

Fittingly enough, I've spent the last week nerding about Hitchhiker's Guide. *waves towel in celebration*

I like to combine things by carrying around a lilac towel. I'm not sure how I will fit Star Wars into it this year...

We're actually going to be celebrating the glorious birth of the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road tomorrow! Well, sort of. We're going to rent and watch the new Les Miserables - which for some reason (can't think why) seems vaguely familiar...

Happy May 25th though! I've been planning something for it, been wondering about making a board RP of it if there's interest...

And the same to you! It's still the twenty-fourth, here, but the reminder is much appreciated. I think there might actually still be lilacs in bloom somewhere around here, which would mark the first time ever that I've actually been able to wear a lilac, rather than scrounging up a vaguely purple flower.
