And the gifts! Chocolate and weapons and bleepka (mmm, bleepka), hooray! Answering a few questions...
I don't remember which TVTropes article it was. I think it was on the "TVTropes Will Enhance Your Life" page that lists different fandoms people recommended or discovered through the site. I'm not one hundred percent sure though.
I mentioned some of my fandoms in an early reply, but I'll be a bit more extensive here. Video Game fandoms: Halo, Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, Elder Scrolls, Gears of War, Fable, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VII and X, and the Half-Life-verse. Literary & Movie fandoms: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Narnia, His Dark Materials, The Wheel of Time, Harry Potter, Crosstime Traffic and Southern Victory Series (both by Harry Turtledove), Firestar (title of the first book of a four book series by Michael Flynn), the Tortall-verse from Tamora Pierce, and the Foundation-verse. TV fandoms: Lost, House, and Futurama. Web Original fandoms: Red vs. Blue, Tales of MU, the Whately Academy-verse, and of course the Protectors of the Plot Continuum.
My exposure to fanfiction has actually been almost non-existent over the years. The closest I've come has been Red vs. Blue and some (generally good) video game webcomics. Over the last month I've seen quite a few thanks to the missions and MSTs done by Agents. I'm feeling some dread over the possible creation of a pair of agents of my own, since I'll have to actually read the fanfiction without the catharsis provided by other Agents fixing/mocking it. It's probably inevitable because I do have a bit of a morbid fascination with badfic; it's why I read the entire Twilight series after seeing a few comics/shorters/MSTs of it. Ah well, Bleep products will fix the mental scarring, right? Right??
