No, just. No. Avril is. I have no words, too many songfics, too many.
And...who?
I'm at work, and stuck listening to music I despise. This gets me thinking "Oh geez, Mary Sue" repeatedly. Specifically, Misery Business by Paramore. There is something that just makes my brain conjure up an urple-haired, sparkling sue, mocking me about warping a beloved characters brain.
So, apologies if this topic has been discussed already. But what song, or songs, have this kind of effect on you?
Also, The Boy is Mine by Brandy and Monica, and well, Enoby ruined Good Charlotte for me.
How about "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon?
Other than that, I got nothin'.
That song makes me grind my teeth. I hear it's supposed to be a stealth parody, but I sure as hell can't tell, and it makes me want to murder the singer. The whole "I don't like your girlfriend/ I think you need a new one/ I could be your girlfriend" thing just smacks of every Sue who ever replaced Arwen.
Also, "Dontcha." "Dontcha wish your girlfriend was hot like me . . . " ARGH. I need to kill something.
Stealth parody? I don't really know. I heard it once, then never listened to it again. At least I tried to, I mean.
Pussycat Dolls are also on my music blacklist. Right up there with Ciarra, and that Kerri. "Don't hate me cause I'm beautiful" No, I hate you because your an annoying twit.
No, just. No. Avril is. I have no words, too many songfics, too many.
And...who?
If that was an attempt at playing speechless, I believe you should have just remained silent. I apologise if I sound rude, but I honestly don't know what else to say.
Seconded, who are you?
Just a few questions.
1) First, who are you?
2) What are you talking about? ('No. Avril is.' Avril is what?)
3) Why. Are. You. Talking. Like. Shatner?!?!?!
I mean, seriously.
For me, the Sue in Misery Business is the subject, rather than the narrator. A lot of Britney Spears songs have this effect on me, though. Partly because I can't stand Spears' voice.
Which is odd, as I've been a Paramore fan for a few years now. I'm glad my interpretation of the song is similar to the intended meaning, anyway.
When I look at it from that angle, I feel pleased. And Britney warrents an automatic station change, I refuse.
You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift.
There's just something about the whole "I'm not pretty because I wear sneakers and t-shirts, but I have soooo much inner beauty" that makes me wanna headdesk.
There's also a certain amount of entitlement there that makes me think of Sues - I know you so much better than she does, and even though you haven't realised it yet, you're mine!
Not to mention, a fair number of Sues could probably be modeled after her simply because of how popular she is these days.
Personally, I don't like her, either. How she remains a hot topic after that horrible performance of hers alongside Stevie Nicks is beyond me. /rant
I, thankfully, never saw that performance. But agreed on all accounts. I don't remember it clearly, but I recently read a fic where the sue felt the need to remind me several times that she "has the voices of taylor swift and miley cyrus...before she became a skank."
Also, the ads are mocking us, shes everywhere!
Every song in that scheme. You ever hear her song I'd Lie? Its borderline obsessive.
I don't really know any songs by her other than that.
Although I did have to look up the lyrics to 'Better than revenge'. Once I have my Permission, my agents are going to take on a badfic named after that song, and apparently the author makes a habit of naming her fics after Taylor's songs.
Taylor Swift strikes me as kind of creepy, really. She seems to be the female version of the selfproclaimed 'nice guys' who stalks girls who want nothing to do with them, all the while ranting that their boyfriends are jerks and that they would be soooo much better for them.
Oh, please tell me its GG. I've run into her work, and it irritates me.
I've had that impression of her as well. Like I said, I'd Lie is pretty much a list of things she knows about him. While she gives the impression that they're friends, it still screams obsessed to me.
You mean to say, that there are more like her out there? Oh well, I could probably have figured that out on my own. No, it's someone called Blinded-Kit.
