Welcome to the Board! Have some of my world-famous hydrophobic water to commemorate the event. The preferred drink of the Zz'gash dune runners!
So, er, hi! *looks around; this place is very, very large* I'm Len, and I'm hoping to join the PPC.
I'm not really sure what else to put on this post, unless anyone wants a ten page rant on the epicness of the Himalayan tahr. (The take-away? They're extremely epic.)
'Kay, well, I've read all the homework and I'm looking forward to writing with you!
Yo Yo 'sup! Have some Mysteriously Glowing And Possibly Radioactive Chocolate!
Ooh, fun.
Welcome, welcome! Unfortunately, it seems that we don't share any fandoms. But if you like Tolkien, you'll find yourself in good company here at the PPC.
Now about your newbie gift:
*rummages through bag of holding*
Aha!
*pulls out a Pokeball*
Here you go: a Ditto, the perfect companion for a multi-fandom Boarder like yourself. I don't know if the Flowers allow Pokemon on missions (they don't allow minis), but if they do, Ditto will fit in verynicely.
Awww, thanks!
I can't say I've ever read/played/watched Pokémon, but the Ditto sounds adorable! And useful. Definately useful.
I shall name him Kuiga.
:)
Did you check the link that I put in my post? If not, here is the URL again: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ditto
It leads to Bulbapedia, the Pokemon Wiki, which has information on what Ditto is and does.
Hello hello, and welcome!
Looks like we share a couple of fandoms, Tolkien and The Hunger Games to be exact. I'm a little confused why were ranting about the tahr though. Did someone dishonor it? Did they insult its heritage? Are they trying to say there are more adorable mountain goat, lion hybrids out there? Did someone claim it's a figment of imagination?
Let's see, welcome gifts. Hmm... *digs through closet with suspicious TARDIS like abilities* Ah, here we go, a book on fishing, three strawberries and a packet of my limited edition Atlantian sponge capsules. Just add water and they'll grow into a full-sized building of the architectural style(s) of your choosing!
Thanks much!
It doesn't take real vilification for me to rant about something. I just start yammering and it goes downhill from there.
Nice to meet you! Have pair of glittery sequined urple work boots. Perhaps you'll find a decent use for them. And some cookies. You can never go wrong with cookies.
Thank you! I think I will find a use for the boots indeed... Does the suspenseful genericness of these wonderful cookies give them any sort of mystical qualities I should know about before chowing down?
Welcome to the PPC and stuff! Have some lemming repellent!
Thanks!
I'm afraid to ask why you thought the lemming repellent was necessary, though.
Which is the way we call Quotev, a fanfiction-and-other-stuff hosting website we recently discovered, due to its users' tendence to write horrible fanfiction that look all like each other.
Thought Fanfiction.net was bad? Take the worst out of it, copy-paste it one hundred times, add the abouse of the ability to use coloured text, different fonts and linking images, and you have a good approssimation of what the Circle is.
Oh, wow.
That's a distressing concept.
At least FFn has a few gems in it, although they are being increasingly buried by the bad stuff.
Hope you'll stick around a while (although I promise you'll see a lot of badfic). So, in honor, how about some bleepolate ice cream? Homemade and sooo good, I swear!
Awesome! Within my first week at the Board, somebody else joins up! I hope you stick around, Ms. Snow! Aand... I hear it's the tradition around here to give gifts to new people...
I have this nifty rebrella from Un Lun Dun (try reading it sometime). Enjoy!
Thank you!
Actually, I'm beginning to be concerned for the sake of fanfiction. It's getting harder to find things worth reading.
Gah! That was intended for Pauline07.
To you, also, thanks much!
Welcome to the Board! Have some of my world-famous hydrophobic water to commemorate the event. The preferred drink of the Zz'gash dune runners!
Aww, thanks!
Have some Swiss Chocolate and some Bleepka. You'll need them both soon.
Thank you!
Have one CD case, two double A batteries, a tube of red tempera paint, a pair of chopsticks, and a bag of NM&M's. Welcome to the board!
I'm sure I'll find a place for all this somewhere...
I can't believe how many times I've typed "thank you" today. Everyone is so generous. So... thank you! ¡Gracias! Erm... Merci?
Nice to meet you, Ms. Snow! Welcome to the PPC! I wouldn't mind that rant about the tahr, if you would? They're so adorable!
Ah, but to business! What fandoms do you enjoy? Are you a book gal, or do you prefer movies? Any interest in Japanese manga and anime?
Here: as a welcome gift, have some cookies, made with real Bleepolate chips!
Thank you! I'm more of a book person, honestly. As I mentioned before, I kind of roam around from one fandom to the other. Right now I'm kind of obsessed with Tolkien, but I've written for a few different canons, like The Hunger Games, Divergent/Insurgent, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, even a Harris Burdict painting, which was a strange story.
I have only ever watched one anime- Last Exile- and I enjoyed it, but never found the time to finish the series. As far as manga goes, I've not read any, but I draw in the style (not well, but I try).
Welcome to this little alcove of Cyberspace!
Ooh, Himalayan tahr are cool. They remind me of Ibex (
Ibexes? Ibexene?)
As a welcome gift I present you with a barrel full of Chamomile tea, for staving off school insanity.<br>
Enjoy!
~TE
I am thoroughly welcomed!
They do look a lot like Ibex/Ibexae/Ibexipeople. Distant cousins, maybe?
When I saw that name (tahr), it looked like some Star Trek name. Who knew that it isn't a fictional creature at all?
As for the plural of "ibex," it depends on whether you want to follow the original Latin or not:
"Ibices" is the way you'd pluralize it in Latin.
"Ibexes" is the way you'd pluralize it following English pluralization rules.
It gets smaller... or, well, cozier at least. Here, have a carpet (heavily embroidered with ducks), five wall-hangings (showing the deaths of particularly bad Sues), and a rather threadbare spotted couch or two to furnish your corner of this gigantic warehouse.
And I took your advice down there and looked up pictures of tahr. So very epic indeed.
-Aila
Thank you!
I'm feeling the warm and fuzzies already. :)
Welcome, welcome! No relation to the other Len, I trust? Probably not, but we'd need to know beforehand whether or not you'd be able to handle the sight of Fred Rogers. For neurological experiments social purposes.
Let's see, what do I have for a newbie gift? We don't share any fandoms, unless Warriors referred to those books about the sapient cats, but I know enough about the Hunger Games to give you... this briefcase full of tracker-jackers! Don't ask me how they get enough to eat in there, but the loud buzzing tells me they're all alive and as angry as ever.
Only open it when there's a situation that can be solved by the addition of hundreds of stinging wasp-mutants, because if you open it prematurely, you're probably not going to get all of them back.
Hello, and thanks for the warm welcome!
As for the rest...
1.) Nope, no relation to another Len. I hope I'm not stealing someone's name.
2.) I've always been rather fond of Mr. Rogers, actually. Although I'm pretty sure I'm missing something funny in that sentence.
3.) The very same sapient cats, actually. It was a phase... *blushing ridiculously*
4.) I shall guard this briefcase with my life. And I wouldn't worry about food. Mutant insects are notoriously loose in morals.
It's just an in-universe reference. There was a character briefly mentioned in the original PPC series with Jay and Acacia who ran around with a flamethrower one day shouting for Mr. Rogers. At some point, somebody dubbed him Len. That link I sent was to his page on the wiki.
By the way, nobody's going to look down on you or anything for your fandom choices. Warriors was a good book series, though granted I haven't read any of the books in years, so I don't know how the story quality went past the end of Power of Three, but... I'm going to stop here before I start rambling.
In fact, I don't think we have any completed missions in that continuum, or Hunger Games and Percy Jackson for that matter(though Percy Jackson has a long-abandoned OFU), so if you're still up for it, you might be able to spork some badfic for any of those and be the first one to do so.
That is, if you are planning on making PPC stories. Some people aren't, and that's fine too.
Ah... I must have missed that scene when I read the Original Series.
Actually, kudos to you for stopping after the Power of Three. While I agree that the New Prophecy arch wasn't bad, it went downhill from there. I couldn't make it through the last book and a half of Omen of the Stars because it had just become so godawful.
Sure, I'd consider eventually going to those continuums if they're short staffed. And I do plan on writing, but I'd like to get aquainted with the site and the PPCers before I get into that.
I read them too, see. I think I stopped somewhere around halfway through the New Prophecy arc? That sounds about right. I stopped when...actually, I won't write the names, because I'll get at least one of them wrong, but I'm fairly sure I stopped reading while at least one of the three was still an apprentice. My screenname comes from that, though--I just capitalized the first letter of 'fire' randomly (or because I thought it looked cool when I started using the name, who knows. Actually, it might have been to differentiate from other Dawnfires? I know there were some...)
Also, um, I think I haven't welcomed you yet. So, welcome to the Board! I hope you're enjoyed your stay so far. Here, have some Gummyblee Cats (for nostalgia's sake) and some Swiss Bleepolate! Glad you decided to join the insanity!

Greetings, new friend! Help yourself to a pair of snow shoes! They're Sasquatch-sized, unfortunately.
And what on Earth is a tahr? If it's even from Earth. Is it a snuggle-able animal of some kind?
How did you know my shoe size? That's disconcerting, that is. O.O
Weeeelll, if they got over their mortal fear of anything that moves, I imagine tahrs would be quite snuggle-able. If you picture a really cute llama, and give it ram horns, and then genetically merge it with a Kooshball... Okay, maybe just look it up on Google images.
They're like a cross between a goat and an antelope and I love them! The Arabian kind also has a lion mane and I love them even more!
Eeeeeeeeeee!
Eeeeeeeeeeeee!
I know, right? The epitome of hircine beasties!
This is an automated message from the 3D System, V 1.0. (Kidding. That's just my sense of humour speaking.)
Welcome: by posting here you've made yourself a member!
First and most important, please read The Constitution, which is something everybody needs to do. The PPC also has a handy Wiki, and it is recommended that you browse it, as well as read The Original Series. We also have an IRC chat, and you're welcome to drop by and say hi. Or just natter. Most newbies also post their fandoms.
Last but not least, I give you this cup of tea. It's good, tasty and healthy... but, mind you, the leaves have a tendency to eat people. So handle it with care, eheheheh.
I'm sure the maneating tea will come in handy, in time... (And, yeah, I've read them. Thanks for the advice, though!)
As far as fandom goes, I rove around. I'm in somewhat of a Tolkien faze at the present, which is how I found the Original Series in the first place, but I've written for Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, Divergent, PJO, Warriors (shamefully), Harris Burdict paintings (that was an odd one), and I think that about covers it.
:)
First off, try to lay off writing missions until a few months of active discussing. You can write your own fanfictions though, and try to get betas or concrits from a few people here. Not me, I hadn't been writing for a while due to my writer's mess.
Ift is traditional to offer virtual gifts here to newbies. Therefore I present you with an virtual anvil. Very useful if you're a roadrunner with a particularly obsessive predator.
Thanks for the advice! I'll definately keep that in mind.
Futhermore, I shall graciously accept this fine anvil, and pray that its virtues are never needed. -.- It shall be my pookiemuffin, and I shall treasure it forevermore.
