Secrets from Another World This really isn't related to C S Lewis's Space Trilogy; i just didn't know what else to put it under. Working at a Cafe, Macy just lives day by day, until she finds a man, injured & bleeding.

…posted to one of the Tolkienverse sections of the Pit. (The Wayback Machine is acting up right now, so I can't provide a link).
As a Lewis/Space Trilogy fan, it's doubly irritating. Livejournal, Fictionpress, DeviantArt, or any number of the support networks/communities out there. Egads, it's not that hard!
I'm pretty sure it's called FANfiction.net for a reason. I don't think it's confusion, either, all the other stuff on their profile is actual fanfiction. (Well, fanfic for Twilight, which reads like a badly written fanfiction itself, but that's not really the point.)
...I don't know, really. Probably laziness to check the rules properly, like you said.
I'd like to say things like this are caused by honest confusion, though that is a sign of being too lazy to read the content guidelines.
Mind you, we know that many writers on there don't read them, if only because the content guidelines also instruct writers to spellcheck and proofread their work, use proper formatting and respect their reviewers.
I'd also say confusion and laziness. Usually more of the latter than the former. And yes, unfortunately, many writers choose to completely ignore guidelines.
Just as an aside, is there a fairly prestigious site for original fiction?
I've never been on fictionPress, but from what I gather it's very much the sister site of ff.n
Elfwood has a section for writing. Not all the stuff on there is good, but it's quite heavily moderated, which I think cuts out the really awful stuff.
