Announcement and questions for our British friends by

First, the announcement: We're finally getting married! The date is set for Saturday, August 6th.
Second, we're planning on honeymooning with a cruise around the British Isles. We're scheduled to arrive at Heathrow in the afternoon of August 13, and we're feeling out possibilities for low-priced accommodations until the cruise departs on the 16th. We'll also need something for the night of the 28th, preferably in easy distance of Heathrow, since our return flight leaves at around nine in the morning on the 29th. So, if you know of anything decent in the area, or if you ARE in the area and feel like being really awesome, please let us know.
As for the cruise itself, it departs August 16 from Southampton and stops in Guernsey (St. Peter Port), England, Cobh, Ireland, Dublin, Ireland, Liverpool, England, Belfast, N. Ireland, Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland (overnight), Inverness/Loch Ness (Invergordon), Scotland, Edinburgh (South Queensferry), Scotland, Paris/Normandy (Le Havre), France, and returns to Southampton on the 28th. (All the locations are copied directly from the cruise website, so if any of the parenthetical notes are weird, it's not our fault.) If you'll be in any of those places in that time and want to meet up, we might be able to arrange that, too. Just drop us a line. {= )

We're very happy for you!
We're not likely to be in any of those places, but should coincidence strike, we'd be happy to see you again. Southampton might be the most probable.
Congratulations again!

Considering we'll be there twice, I like the odds. We'll hope for the best and see what happens. {= )

Most excellent to hear - hope the special day is indeed special (and as low stress as can be in the leadup) and that you enjoy the cruise.
Best wishes for the day and for your life together,

Hope you guys have a happy marriage, and I hope that you enjoy your trip! Really, tell everybody about your time on the cruise once you all come back!
I'm not in any of those areas, so I won't be able to see you two. That, and I'm still in high school. So yeah... -

Yeah, those parenthetical notes are a tad strange. I live in the north of England, but I've been to London a few times. It depends on how near you want to be to Heathrow, as there's quite a few places to stay in the area. When I stayed to be within easy access of the airport (I needed to catch an early flight to Greece), I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel, which you can find here:
http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/lhrbr-renaissance-london-heathrow-hotel/
It's got pretty good access to everything remotely interesting, as well as Heathrow, and it's also pretty cheap even though it's got four stars. I've also heard good things about the Sheraton Skyline, but I've not stayed there:

I hope this helps! -

Where in the north of England? I'm up in the general north-west Lancashire area. *bounces and squees at having another PPCer somewhere nearby-ish*

I'm in the suburbs of Hull. The nice part, before you get into a city and start to think that a bomb's gone off. Or zombies have invaded. Or both.

I'm not sure about other countries. The only Canadian wedding I've been to didn't, but it was supposed to be a plain sort of wedding.
I wouldn't be surprised if the idea came from Italy, though. -

Don't know if I'll be able to meet you at any of those times, as I had to get my January exams delayed due to health problems and they're now in August, and my family holiday takes up another week of that month. But I'll try.

Congratulations to the pair of you. May your lives be filled with joy and many years of pleasure.
As for English knowledge. You can access Heathrow from the Picadilly line on the London tube system, so chances are you would be able to find a cheapish hotel in the South East of London, say Hammersmith or Ealing somewhere in that area and then just tube straight to the airport. Hotels in that area are far enough away from the center that they shouldn't be too horribly priced. -
