starting to hang around here! by

Hi everyone! I've recently bumped into PPC and I loved this idea of finishing bad wiriting, and I'd love to join here, so I'm introducing myself to The Board. But I have a terrible problem: English isn't my mother tongue and I'm not sure if I'll be able to complete a story without help (grammar, spell, punctuation, and so on). So I've decided to hang around here, not just as the Constitution claims, but also for myself. Could anyone tell me how it all works? I thank you for any help

I'll skip the explanations and move right ahead to the presents... chocolate, Canadian maple syrup, and some C4. Use the latter sparingly. Thank you, and leave your sanity in the bucket at the door marked 'orc fodder'

Specailly for the syrup, I'm eating it right now. I'm starving and Cafeteria food doesn't appear to me , too much chopped liver and onions... and it also smells rotten

Hai there,
Welcome!
Please accept this radioactive fish and this strange beeping shoe. I don't know why the shoe beeps, and I don't think I want to know. What I do know is that you should never let a cat get near it... -

You're not the only non-native English speaker here. I'm Italian, but I still managed to get Permission, so don't worry. We are a caring community, so if you need help, there will surely be someone willing to give an hand.
And, have a folding car! It becomes a rather heavy case when not in use. Do not keep it near fragile objects, however. It has a nasty habit of unfolding when it shouldn't. -

Here, have a weapon of your choice (anything up to and NOT including flamethrowers) and this five-pound bag of assorted candy.
Don't worry about English not being your first language. Loads of people on here are willing to beta-read stuff, and they can help you fix most errors. -

Thanks Ksandra, this baseball bat is awesome, I'm running out of room with all the things you're giving me. I just hope for the tiger (she's called ale. Yep, like beer) not to scratch it

Have a venomous arthropod! Don't worry, they bite.
As to your query about 'how it all works,' we just like to get to know the folks who hang around. So yeah, join discussions, comment on things other members write, join in when we're playing games...just generally have fun and be yourself, so we know who you are! I hope this was helpful... -

Hi! Have a Pie of Rassilon and a pet cat. The pie is yummy. The cat is a calico. Do not eat the cat.
As to the grammar/spelling/punctuation thing, don't worry. Anything that you've written, you can ask for beta-readers to help you with, and most of the time someone will. -

Hello fellow new person. Maybe I'll be able to help with the spelling/grammar/punctuation/whatnot you need help with. If you write something for the Board and want it reviewed, I can beta-read it.
Apparently PPC wants you to hang around for a month or so before you can be granted permission, so it's a good idea to participate in some of the other topics. It would be good language partice.
About your question: "Could anyone tell me how it all works?", could you be a bit more specific? -

For example I don't know how this board works. Is this the only page or there are more? BY other topics do you mean relying other people's posts, putting links to fics I think are bad? That kind of things I mean
-
There are more pages. by

There's a button at the bottom of the main Board page labelled "Next Page". Clicking on it gives you...well, the next page, with slightly older posts. I'm told the archives don't go on forever (or even back to the beginning of the Board), but I've looked back about a year and a half and not reached the end.
People don't often go back past the first page, so don't expect others to notice if you reply to something older.
Oh, right, your gift. *switches to spiel mode*
Have a Paranoiac's Friend (tm) Mark VII camera! It runs for over three weeks without recharging and has a complicated shut-off sequence so people can't turn it off*! Now with thumbtack attachment for bugging places, people, and other nouns! Paranoiac's Friend: for the paranoiac in all of us!
(*Including, probably, you. Good luck with that.) -

Please dont' worry about the camera. I got a baseball bat so I can turn it off, but I don't want to right now. Even if its blinking red light doesn't alow me to sleep, and it's constantly making strange sounds... *thinks better and grabs the bat* I will see you in hell... from heaven, you know! *viciousnessly hits the camera*

You didn't let it watch The Ring, did you? Or any episodes of Doctor Who involving Weeping Angels? They told me Mark Sevens were Weeping-Angel-proof, but maybe they were wrong. If the baseball bat doesn't work, you might want to try *lifts sledgehammer* this. Good luck with the not dying/being eaten.
